Just watched Blowback (thanks for the tip, Gryper!) and WOW I’m still pissed this show got cancelled. Sure, it’s not everyone’s piece of cake but things are really picking up. And dark, and brooding, and stuff.
For the record - I think it’s fine if people don’t like all the characters. I mean, there’s no rule that says you have to identify with or even like people in all forms of entertainment to be able to get something out of it. (It’s been a pet peeve what with all the talk of, let people geek out about what they like! And then to feel like lots of geeks are crapping on my Caprica parade :()
That said, episode highlights for me (O HAI SPOILERS):
- the fight with Sam and Joseph. Aw, man.
- Unravelling the web of connections - Guatrau sells weapons to STO, STO plant in the police, misinformation to kill Marbeth.
- I thought the episode was very well structured - and I was with Andi in terms of guessing bad guys/fake outs, but not because I think they were ‘predictable’ per se but rather because the writers and I have similar ways of thinking.
- the last scene on Gemenon, with Lacey and Odin observing the executions… wow. I can’t wait to see the next episode.
And: any news on access to “Dirteaters”? I see it was on Space last Tuesday… everyone, to the DeLoreans!
Of course it wouldn’t be predictable for the casual audience, but for us who are exposed to the Lostian, Dollhousian and Galactian writing style, we know how the writers try to play with us.
If you sidereel hinthint around, maybe you could find something.
