Can a grand finale be

Fabulous and disappointing at the same time, because it seems to me that is just what happened?

Good night.

(The cycle may be broken because the mathematical odds favor it?)

Maybe, but I think it was a bit more fabulous. Not exactly what you were expecting I’m guessing?

WARNING! SPOILERS FOR THE WEST COAST AUDIENCE ON DAYBREAK PART 2

I always knew deep down that I was a little bit machine.

I sooo agree. I…just…no words…

at least we got one last Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap out of Tigh at the strip joint…

Well, at least I’m not the only one. Is it still showing in central? I think I’m going to take a walk and mull over some of what I’m thinking before I post anything to give some spoiler time just in case.

Although, I think it’s safe to say that the mere hint of deployment of Cottle-grade waterworks is the single most devastating thing I’ve seen in Battlestar. Had actual tears been shown, I think I’d be on anti-depressants for a few weeks.

Central time is done. It ran 8-10 while it was running 9-11 Eastern.

And Cottle rules…

I have no complaints. Not everything was fully explained, but thats ok. There were quite a few emotional moments to say the least, and all the characters had a great send off.

I’d go on, but I have a feeling we will have a few chances to talk about it in the future.

Yes OT, unfortunately it can be fabulous and disappointing at the same time. But it might be a day or two before I can get all my thoughts together.

My preliminary review tips to the “fabulous” side, however.

My head asplode.

We still don’t know what God is, or who the head beings are. But that is really all we don’t know. I guess we can’t have it all.

Sean will be happy…

I think they wrapped it but wonderfully…

I just loved the ending in modern time as they showed all the clips while playing watchtower… was great!!!

It brought a lot of things to conclusion for me personally… am referring to the waiting for 30 years to see an end to it going back to the Original Battlestar Galactica!

I really enjoyed it and thought we got more answers than I was expecting, but like a lot of you I’m still trying to wrap my brain around it. Tired and wired - a weird place to be.

I thought of you and your expectations lots tonight, OT. I would love to hear your thoughts on the “forces of nature” and their role in the show.

But I agree. I wondered why an early review said the first part was so breakneck but said nothing about the last part, but now it makes sense (though first hour and a half is a mighty stretch; the episode is clearly doled out in halves).

There were times when I loved it and I liked the last half more than I probably should have, but that works because some parts of the first weren’t as exciting as I wanted them to be. I can’t tell if I like the tone of the very last bit of the finale as a bit of a wink or if I found it cutting against the grain of the show itself.

Still, I had no idea the show would end like this, that it would do waht it did. Instead of stretching things out everything was very compact for the first part so that the last half could just breathe. Smartly done, all things considered.

So after all this, both Bill & Lee end up alone??? Doesn’t make sense for Lee.

I totally agree with you…I think

That episode was a total mind frack, everything up to the whole Earth thing was great. I think the dialogue between Angel Six and Angel Gaius was brilliant.

Lee might hook up with someone, but I think Bill will die in the house he built for himself and Laura.

I am feeling a long sigh of relief concerning certain aspects of the finale such as the head characters and starbuck, but at the same time a lingering disappointment with how much they revealed about our supposed past and connection to the BSG world of characters.

I also would have just loved for our (the viewers) connection to the BSG universe to be left more ambiguous. I would have much rather not known if the final Earth was our Earth and if the show was taking place in our past rather than our future. This would have allowed me at least to make a more personal connection to the story.

Also I thought putting solid dates and years later and such really limited the story and possibly took away from the timelessness of the show.

And finally I feel like the dialogue between head six and head baltar at the end really threw in our face too forcefully the already elegantly portrayed message of a warning to us as viewers concerning our own future.

I figure Lee will hook up with someone, but Bill will die in the house he builds for himself and Laura.

Sorry, multi-post on my part.

I really didn’t get why Adama’s flying off with Roslin meant he’d never return. Why wouldn’t he return after she died unless he planned to die himself? And getting rid of their ships in order to “wipe the slate clean”? I don’t really think that’s something all the humans would do. But it was still sort of pretty.

I get the whole ditching technology and living simply thing. But I really think the old man would get lonely on the mountain top as the days turn into weeks… weeks turn into months… months into years…
