I was thinking about getting it but i kind or lost interest in the previous games, but since the reviews are so good, I’m kind of on the fence
So i was wondering if Anyone here played it, is it worth getting?
I have it and have played it and greatly enjoy it but I guess I could be a little basis due to the fact that I really enjoyed Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2. The Single player of the game is short as much of reviews have said but also like most reviews have said the quality of the single player is very high. One of the best shooters I have played all year. The multi-player in my opinion is one of the best. I play it fairly often when i can and its an enjoyment to play each time.
Got the game today, initial impressions are very good, great graphics, great gameplay, great moustache (if you look at the team leader you’ll understand). I played cod 2 and that was good but this is definitly better and different enough to make it worth buying, however if I were you I wouldn’t buy it now, not with mass effect, assassins creed, Galaxies and a whole raft I’m forgetting about, wait until next summer when the gaming drought comes and buy it for $30
I don’t know if anyone has already talked about this game, but it rocks. I used to play Halo 3 a lot. But now im into this game. It’s the best. I recomend it to anyone 7 and up!!

I’ve been taking a break since I’ve been busy with language school, but I played this daily up until about a month ago. I hit level 55 but didn’t go prestige because now I don’t have enough time and I don’t want to lose all of my weapons agin.

I assume you’re talking the PC version? I still play the 360 version here and there
Yeah, the PC version. I don’t have a 360 only a Wii. And I have tried FPS on the Wii and it is harder that it looks
I have now finished my single player on normal and really enjoyed the game. I am now playing the Xbox Live version and although I am enjoying it as well I am slightly frustrated at the fact I am a noob being dropped in with guys that have been playing for years. You are hit with the triple whammy that not only do these guys have great experience, not only have the memorized the maps, they have far superior weapons. It is like I am literally bringing a knife to a gun fight over and over.
Any advice? I have taken the strategy of being a hidden sniper. This minimizes the number of times I get killed as I am not running around being someone’s target for their practice. I have actually gotten pretty good in the last couple of days of hiding in plain sight in maps that have undergrowth. Even then it feels like some of the other players are psychic in their ability to find me. I don’t get it.
I for one hate being a sniper, I HAVE to move around, but you have to be smart about where you move
I love long range weapons but I’ll use the iron sights and silencer, combine the silencer with UAV Jammer and move smart and you’ll be insane
I also tend to go the opposite way of everyone else if possible, I love to get behind the other team and just start wiping them out from behind, you usually have to take down one or two on your way to getting behind them but if you’re quick about it you’ll already be in a great position
also do you play hardcore? because the people magically finding you could be due to the kill cam and them just going back to where they know you are, but its not on in hardcore
IMO hardcore is better because there’s just something wrong about putting 3 bursts of an M16 into someone and have them not die…
Hmm, great thots there DRR. I kind of suspected that people were looking at their killcams and figuring out where I was, I just couldn’t believe that they would see that snapshot, figure out where I was, respawn and get all the way to me unscathed. However, I do suspect that this is what is happening, especially when I get a little too comfortable in a spot.
I think I need to try me some hardcore. I would have guessed it meant for the hardcore gamer, but if the rules are simply hardcore this might be an excellent solution. Thank you man!
Here is the definition of hardcore mode in COD4
“In Hardcore mode, health of all players is decreased from 100 to 30, the heads-up display is removed and friendly fire is enabled.”
However all the hardcore servers that I play have disabled friendly fire. This makes for a better game, you don’t piss off your teammates by accidently shooting them in the back thinking they are the enemy. And they don’t shoot you in the face because you shot them in the back:D
M16 is, for somebody will less skill, the best gun in the game. Especially with a red dot sight.
Also they might know where you are because of A. UAV, B. Your dot appearing on the minimap when you shoot, or C. Kill cam
And getting shot by a P90/Silencer/SP/Dead Silence is really super keen =P
Thanks DP. I didn’t know people had UAVs flying around tracking us. Jeez. Another reason I wish I could play people with my general same experience and level.
I only use it in hardcore but the G3 is my favorite weapon, silencer with UAV Jammer = Ninja style!
I hate hardcore. In W@W I love it cause bolt actions are actually one hit kills which is nice. I really don’t like the G3 though. M14, for whatever reason, I find better. Usually I got russky guns though. 47/74/RPD
I hate the iron sights on the M14 though, I don’t really like using the red dot because it makes it feel too easy
and hardcore is great as long as you don’t get a bunch of idiots team killing
So I have made some steady progress in the multiplayer world. I think I am up to Staff Sergeant now and slowly working through the challenges for bonus XP and the coveted red dot sights. I also got the ability to create a clan tag, which of course is [GWC].
I have pretty much stopped playing free-for-all as it is generally frustrating and more the RUNSHOOTSPAWNRUNSHOOTSPAWNRUNSHOOTSPAWN variety. Domination: Capture the flag is great. Team work, strategy, each game presents different challenges with a new mixed team all playing their own styles. I find it very rewarding and fun.
I still am unsure about how this works, but if anyone sees me playing lets join up and play the multiplayer together. I think that would work…or at least we would be in the same match together, not necessarily on the same team.
