Buck Rogers in the 25th Century

I absolutely loved this show as a youngling. Over the holiday I was visiting my sister and she had this sitting in her DVD collection. It was still in the wrapper. Get this. The Entire Epic Series for $7.99! WooT! I was literally jumping up and down.

I yelped, “Can I open it?”

She replied, “Sure.”

I love my sister. Anyway, I was hoping there was a booklet or something but there wasn’t. I asked my sister if I could bring it home, to borrow. She smiled and said, “Yes.” Did I say, ‘I love my sister’?

When I got home I popped the first DVD in the player and started watching. My wife decided to join me. During dinner (back at my sister’s) I was going on and on about my first crush, Princess Ardala. My wife couldn’t want to see this hoochie. As soon as Ardala showed up in that skimpy bikini, my wife said, “Shake them hips. Woo!”

Watching the show, over 30 years later was interesting. It was quite teh racy. My wife made a wonderful observation, “It’s like James Bond in space.” I never thot of it like that before but she’s right. Buck’s always got a babe he’s saving and the adventures are often filled with intrigue and espionage.

So anyone else remember this series? Share yo thots.

Loved it. I was a bit young for the original run of BSG, so it was really the first prime time sci-fi I ever watched religiously. Never missed an episode. A channel called RTV occasionally runs them now, and I’m surprised by how well they hold up. Considering how portable Dr. Theopolis was, it was one of the first sci-fi series to predict that computers wouldn’t always be room-sized. And such great villains! Jack Palance creeped me out even more than usual after his appearance.

Oh, and Gil Gerard was one of my first crushes. :stuck_out_tongue:

The Space Vampire episode frakkin creeped me out. I had nightmares for weeks after watching that one.

During my re-watch. I skipped over it. I’m such a scaredy-pants. It’s too bad because Wilma is smokin’ in that episode.

I haven’t gotten up to the second season and Hawk yet. I wonder how that holds up.

Biddi-biddi-biddi

Loved, loved, loved this show!

But, Whut?! How can you talk about crushes and not mention Erin Gray as Col. Wilma Deering. Totally hot!

And Eric Cartman as Buck Rodgers totally made me smile.

Oh, and here’s a comparison between South Park, Buck Rogers and The Second Coming (? I don’t know what that is. What that an actual show? A parody?)
