BSG Finale ripped off the BSG Comics ( kinda)

I waited till everyone had went on and on about the finale before i posted this. I really loved the finale, but I had to go ahead and tell this.

Rob Liefild had the rights to the BSG comics in the 90’s. His story was done as a sequal to the OG BSG. Apolo was the Commander, Tigh was the president of the Quarum. There was the evil count Iblis, the Cylon Imperious Leader, and all that stuff.

The thing is… they pretty much got to earth in anchient times ( pretty much at the end of the dinosaurs, )and hooked up with the locals and begat the human race.

I really thought that RDM’s series wouldn’t do the exact same thing… since the comics had already done it… but they did. ( to be exact… move the time period a few thousand years) I liked the BSG series finale… but I wanted to see something that I didn’t see in 1997.

It could be that RDM didn’t read the 90’s comic series. I haven’t even heard of them.
There is only so many ways you can arrive at earth anyways.

i’m sure he didn’t… but he has a staff.

Ripping off is just as bad when it’s done to neglagence as it is when intentianal.

Kinda like how Tim Burton ripped off Keven Smith.

Was there Hera?
Was there angels?
Was there A female starbuck?
Was there a flash forward?
Was anders on the ship and hooked up to it?
Where there flashbacks?

Well, guys, you have to look it like this: There’s only some many versions of Earth that could have been done. And all of them HAVE been done.

There was the Earth of Modern Times already done for the original series (aka “Galactica 1980”).

There was a destroyed Earth (“Revelations”).

And finally, there was Earth, in its infancy (“Daybreak, Part 2”).

Now, you would probably say, “What about a technically advanced Earth?” Well that was the Earth that was destroyed. It falls into two categories. Granted, its not the same planet as our Earth, but it still counts because it is, as the Colonials believed, Earth.

Short of having an Earth where everything is really a mirror image to ours (where text are reversed, as well as the part in peoples hair being the opposite side. Basically, the image you see in the mirror), every type of Earth that can be done has been done.

Um, RDM ripping off Rob Liefeld would be like Shakespeare ripping off whomever he ripped Hamlet off from (which he did): a VAST improvement. As I remember it, at the end of Liefeld’s BSG comic the fleet arrives on earth during the Jurassic and finds the last two survivors of the 13th colony, Adam and Eve (you can’t make this stuff up, folks), cryogenically frozen. They revive them and get them to get the horizontal hullah on to restart the human race. In the Jurassic. Several million years before the rise of anything like an ape, let alone a human being.

Yeah, that’s some fine ripping off the BSG staff writers did there.

Was there angels? yes
Was there A female starbuck? pointless to ask
Was there a flash forward? yes
Was anders on the ship and hooked up to it? equaly pointless
Where there flashbacks? yes

So… they bred with the small rodent-like critters which were the progenitors of mammals in the Cretaceous? Wow. That seems a great storyline to rip…

Ok that one has been done too. It was a movie in the late 70’s early 80’s don’t remember the name. But an astronaut returning from space found that everything about the earth was a different from the earth that he had left. The writing was backwards, he could only read it is he looked a it in a mirror. Everything was opposite of his Earth. He later found that he had returned to an identical Earth that was on the other-side of the sun as his Earth.

I will see if I can remember the name, maybe I will ask the Hive Mind but my point is that I agree with CB just about everything has been done somewhere before.

It’s written by Rob Liefeld, one of the biggest hacks in comics. I’m not a bit surprised that he would decide to write such a stupid idea, or that he himself is so stupid he doesn’t know humans and dinosaurs lived millions of years apart. Let alone the fact that the original show showed the Apollo moon landing in a radio transmission, effectively confirming it is set in our future.

I remember this from a late (SciFi Channel late) Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode. The planet was called Terra (yes, like in the original BSG episode). What was the name of that show?

“Nemisis?”

LOL. I glad you caught the reference.

I’ll choose for myself what is pointless thank you very much.

Ah, Doppleganger (AKA Journey to the Far Side of the Sun) I remember this from when I was a kid.

“The storyline is similar to an hour-long episode of the Twilight Zone entitled, “The Parallel”.”
