BSG Boardgame from FFG

Fantasy Flight Games has a boardgame based upon BSG. I found this video of a session that gives an idea of it in action.

FFG has usually done nice games, but the video didn’t give me a good idea of how the game is really played. Doesn’t matter though, I’ll still probably pick up a copy anyway.

I’m just impressed that some of the cards actually have cut corners. That’s got to be expensive.

Looking again at the video, it looks like the card-like decorations on the board are drawn with cut corners, but the actual game cards have the traditional playing card rounded corners with a printed octagon boarder so that it looks like cut corners.

So I went and bought this game this weekend and played with me mum and dad (both big time BSG fans). It was a great time. It is very complex (but not hard) It was not a good game to start for the first time and 1030 at night with folks who fall asleap at midnight…or anytime they sit in a comfy chair. Also My mom is perhaps the nicest cyolon ever. It would probably be best with about 5 players but was still a great time with 3.

I saw it at a local game store. besides the BSG set, there’s an Pegasus expansion. The game looks awesome. The finding out the cylon part sounds really fun since i enjoy the “catch the murderer” games. I am guessing it’s not really the same since BSG BG doesn’t need a moderator.

Neither does Clue.

Now that I’ve seen some feedback I’m more intrigued by this one.

I bought this game — gosh – I guess about two years ago now. And I set it up to look at it, but never played it. That’s not so usual for me though cuz I’m a sorta game collector. Not a collector in the true sense— I do buy games intending to play them— but I have more games than could be played on a regular basis.

I get together with friends for an occasional game night and we do and annual weekend away that involves a lot of gaming — but we’ve never gave this game a try.
I’m looking forward to it —eventually. It’s a cooperative-play style game which—probably not our cup of tea per se, but I’ve heard great reviews of the game.

just by reading through some of the FAQs for the Pegasus expansion pack, I think it will intrigue a lot of people

ohh i didnt know there was an expansion out. THat might be fun to look into once i play the game a few more times

Geez, i’m just wondering if we could come up with a GWC variant of a BSG board game of our own.

Anyone studied Game Theory in college?

On a side note.

Playing the game gave me the Oh FRAK feeling of being over whelmed by the Cylons many times. At times when every single piece of the Cylon fleet was on the board and we were already down (for the rest of the game) 2 of the 8 vipers you could have and we were out of nukes. It came down to many times making a jump and risking some of the fleet so the rest could survive. Jumping clears the board of all the ships so it makes you safe again but if you jump to early you risk loosing 1 or 3 from your population count (you have only up to 15 population). It was crazy

Probably. We’ve been kicking around the idea of doing a Mafia-style game online for a while.

(And Game Theory isn’t what it sounds like, sadly.)

http://www.epicmafia.com/home Have you guys tried this out? Another forum I got to has used it to mafia it up.

Also if somebody brings BSG Boardgame to the meetup I’m definitely down for playing.

Ooh. That’s interesting. I’m going to poke around there for a bit.

Just saw an ad yesterday for another BSG boardgame expansion.
