How long are you gone for??
Always time to catch up when you get back…when I first bought the series I was watching episodes DAILY (be jealous those watching with delays )…but like I said…this show hit me like NO OTHER before it…
I hear ya but I felt it was for effect sake and not plot sake. As stated, it was for plot sake. They wanted to drive home that the Cylons didn’t just kill soldiers. They wiped out most of the species (young, old, cute, ugly, peace tree huggers and psychopaths) the Cylon were indiscriminate. That’s not a war, it’s an eradication.
And, unfortunately, using nukes meant that they killed most living things on those worlds, not just humans.
Poor Geminon squirrels!
At the time I was not happy with the Braga / Berman regime of Trek. Folks were calling it stale and that it needed a rest. IMO, the journey of the human adventure does not get stale or require a rest. The producers of Trek lost sight of the true purpose of Star Trek. To Boldly Go!
Yep. They waged war on life itself. It was a purge. I understand the producers needed to portray that simply and without showing piles of bodies. They were effective but at the time it rubbed me the wrong way.
Most people weren’t…I need to watch TNG (I’m floating through TOS, DS9 and Enterprise currently)…and see if it was as stale as people say…I can’t remember…Deep Space Nine did really re-gain my faith in the franchise…but I can see what RDM was talking about…
