Browncoats!!!!! Help Name Node 3 of the ISS

I would also like to point out…so far, Colbert has only asked them to vote twice. Tuesday & Wednesday nights. He has yet to start asking for votes in earnest. If that happens, it’s gonna be really close because I’m pretty sure the Colbert Nation outnumbers Whedonites significantly.

Serenity’s down to 85% :frowning:

Actually it is closer to 57% if you read my previous post.

Damn! dropped to 85%. And the voting numbers are waaay bigger than the last time I voted… only a day or so ago it was at 149,000… now it’s at 270,000. Colbert’s fans are hitting the site hard.

I think you’re probably right about that… in actuality, we’d probably get creamed… but there’s no way NASA’s gonna name this thing after him. They make it clear on the site that the voting is for input only. I think the 4 short list names are the serious contenders, and that NASA (or the admin) leaves all the crackpot names on the write-in list (like Xenu from the Scientologists), despite how many votes they get. If Colbert’s name comes off the write-in list, and onto the short list, maybe.

My thoughts exactly.

Just voted. Serenity down to 79%. Very sad.

Here’s the link again:

What you’re saying is quite possible. I also think it’s entirely possible they’d do it. They already allowed an interview with a crew member on the station itself last year. The crew member is a big fan of the show & actually had with him a “wrist strong” bracelet. NASA seems to have a pretty good sense of humor. I mean really, how funny would it be to have a liquid waste recycler named after a pesudo blow-hard?

Serenity at 79%. I miss the 96% days…

79% for me too. And I also miss the 95+ days. :frowning:

Serenity’s at 76% just now.

Just voted again. 78% with 599223 votes. We’re holding steady. Vote often.

Like, every day. From every computer you can get your hands on. But not if you’re going to vote Colbert :stuck_out_tongue:

Colbert had some dude from NASA on his show Tuesday night.

Ugh! Why don’t the write-in votes display a tally? I just found out from this discovery.com article that “Colbert” is leading “Serenity” by about 16,000 votes.

I will now be voting every day.

I have been voting everyday. Once from IE, once from firefox. I am also going to install other browsers to see if i can do more.
I do work in I.T. so everytime i have to go to a users computer I vote from there to.

This is not the war against the Alliance nor is it the Battle of Serenity valley…Browncoats will win this one…we just have to stay diligent!

The good news from the articule was this little excerpt:

The name Colbert doesn’t quite fit with NASA’s theme, said agency spokesman John Yembrick. Other U.S. rooms in the international orbiting outpost are named Unity, Harmony and Destiny. However, the space agency hasn’t made any decision and voting continues until March 20.

NASA has a legalistic out. Its contest rules say voting results “are not binding on NASA and NASA reserves the right to ultimately select a name” in keeping with its best interests.

Which, I suppose, could be sad for both frontrunners, should NASA decide on something else entirely.

If they don’t go with the popular vote it will most likely be Serenity, it fits in with the rest of the naming theme.

Either way it will be entertaining for Colbert fans. Either they have a space module named after Colbert OR they get to see Stephen go off on a rant. His rants are HIGHLY entertaining!

Maybe Serenity will be “the Word”

Shiny

I get the feeling when he talks about this he’s not aware of the Firefly connection. Maybe our Nerd in Chief is not as nerdy as we thought he was. =/
