The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Microsoft is buying skype for several billion dollars.

Good thing or most horrific thing ever? And will it affect the skype meetups (which is why I put it in “meetups”)
Well Skype was nice while it lasted. Micro$oft buys other products, takes the code they want to embed in one of their existing products and then screws up the the original product purchased by “upgrading” it or “fixing” it. :mad:
The money being spent on this seems ridiculous. What does MS know that we don’t? How is this anything other than a massive overspend?
Perhaps they’re getting ready to take on the entire mobile phone provider industry.

What is different now than last year when Ebay sold most of its stake in Skype at a slight loss? That’s what I don’t get. Of course, I haven’t actually used my Skype account in about a year, so I might not be the best judge.
So we’ll be paying for that next time we have to upgrade OSs. :mad:
