Brain doc's ship, Inchon

Did anyone else catch that the Brain Doc came from the ship “Inchon Valley”

Inchon was an actual battle in Korea and has been a US ship, and as an assault ship would have medical facilities. http://www.ussinchon.com/

Has it been referenced previously?

Did you hear that right? Inchon was MacArthur’s one great victory in Korea - landed on an impossible piece of coast line and routed the much larger force of Communist Koreans. Symbolism?

I Went back and he says the brain doc’s ship is “Inchon Valley”

Presumably not named after a battle, that’d make it a war ship and I don’t seem to remember any other then Galactica.

Well, Inchon was/is a coastal town/city in Korea - but it’s still odd.

There is one more ship in the fleet that has missile capability. Don’t remember where I read it but it is there.

When I heard “Incheon Valley,” my mind immediately went to the TV series MAS*H. I’m not sure why, but I assume my childhood memory registered the Battle of Incheon being referenced in the show, as it was set during the Korean War. So, I immediately expected the brain doctor to be a smart-ass surgeon, ala Trapper, Hawkeye, and BJ.

I get the feeling that the writers were making some kind of reference along those lines, but maybe I am reading too much into it.

Yes, mine did too. But shhhhh, you’re making some of us look old!

I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s some sort of MASH reference, but also wouldn’t be surprised if it’s brought up to reference something in the real life war.

Yeah, Inchon is a small city of roughly 2.6 million people, just outside of Seoul, Korea. (Wikipedia article) It’s now best known among those not from Incheon as “That Place Where The Big Ass Airport For Seoul Is

The ship you are thinking of is the Inchon Velle.
It was mentioned before in Maelstrom.

Adriatic.
But it was lost in the passage.
