Book Club Selection: September

I have voted for 3 books.

Game of Thrones: As stated before this is straight up fantasy. This is probably my favorite fantasy tale I have ever read, bar none. The world is rich, dynamic & complicated. The characters are diverse & richly written & fully brought to life. Their reactions are “real” there is no true good, there is no true evil, there is only people & their reactions to it. Full of magic, intrigue, romance, murder & mayhem. The only drawback I see to this series is the amount of time he takes to write them & the ever expanding end point. I for one have been closely watching his website for any word on the next book.

Dark Force Rising: A cintinuation of Heir which is the current read. Excellent book & a great second act for the trilogy.

Mort: I have never read Pratchett & so many people tell me I need to. This would be a great excuse to get off my butt & do it.

I voted for The Asimov, because my dad spent thirty minutes extolling their wonders to me last weekend. I wish I could cast an anti-vote for The Time Traveller’s Wife, although my distaste may be because I listened to the audio version (love me some audio books), and the male reader was the smarmiest sleaziest sounding dude ever. ICK.

I also voted for Neuromancer, because I keep meaning to read me some Gibson and forgetting to.

I’m excited to see Watchmen is doing well. That’s an fine book.

But I’d really love to re-read “The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress”. Heinlein is a great writer

I’ll reiterate, I voted for Foundation - because it’s a book I couldn’t finish as a child, and finally did as an adult. AmyinChicago - my Dad also was a huge “you must read Asimov!” type of guy.

And I wouldn’t mind reading Neuromancer, especially since I just picked a copy of it up this afternoon.

When exactly does voting close? I’ve been watching this thread for weeks.

Polls will close on August 31.

When polls open again, there sure will be a lot of pressure… I’m saying, is all…

Do you have a plan to relieve the pressure of the poll?

Classic.

Suntanning relieves pressure?

You should try it!
