ROTFL!!! I didn’t even realize it was an action figure until about halfway through
I also thought Boba Fett was awesome as a kid. My attraction to assasins began young
However, learning his backstory kind of ruined it for me. Boba Fett went from extra-rational cold hearted killer motivated by the dime and his own twisted senese of honor to a dude who never got past watching his father be slain (and who would get past that??) and shaped his whole life around that single defining event. Just one more casualty of the new movies.
Yes… but he shaped his life around KICKING ASS.
Question, for you EU-savvy types: When they refer to “The Boba Fett Triology,” are they speaking about the Bounty Hunter Trilogy of novels?
Bah, I knew him when he was plain old Bob Feet, then he goes an gets a fancy helmet and an odd looking ship and suddenly he’s acting all up himself and telling people to call him “Boba”. I don’t get it.
Does that mean his abs are painted on, and he spends all his time around half-naked men? In space, of course.
Boba Fett is cool not only because he’s a bounty hunter, but he’s got skills:
You should see him crochet.
yeh…he still says he’s boba from the block but he be totally frontin now!!
my brother was the fett fan i liked the cat next to him that said “leck skroopt de alph” which means “i could totally kick fett’s ass!!” lol i think i’m funny
all kidding aside, i think it’s the lack of info in empire and the element of mystery that sparks imagination…granted he was the only bounter hunter smart enough to know imperial procedure and ask himself “what would fett do??” i never SAW him kick an ass in any of the movies…he did back talk vader though which showed he had balls…i did pretend i was fett’s female assassn side kick…a fascination with stealth killers that i was not able to realize till i rolled up a high elf assassin in eq2!!
LIVIA 70 assy!! aaawww yeh!!
Yeah, that was the hope of The Fett.
Then George killed him off in a stupid way (“Thanks for the Ignition button on my back that I can’t possibly reach!”) And was surprised that fans reacted with dismay. So he rolls out Fett Baby in Ep. II…
and then pretty much forgets about him. Again.
sigh
Don’t fear… Boba Fett lived to a ripe old age. He even had a daughter eventually. You don’t think something like a Sarrlac could contain Fett, do you?
Anyone read the Fett short story “No Disintegrations”? I think it’s either in the Tales from the Cantina or Tales From The Empire compilation. It involves Boba taking out an entire Imperial base… By himself.
I just checked my collection and the story is from Tales of the New Republic. Been ages since I read it. I think I’ll give the story a read for old time’s sake.
Back in the early 80s, before the internet, there were rumors of Boba Fett being a woman underneath that mandalorean armor. It seemed to be a pretty widespread one, from what I recall. One description was that she had red hair, green eyes and a long scar running down her left or right cheek. I never believed this because, if true, why would they’ve gotten male actor, Jeremy Bulloch, to play him? Still, it did make Boba more interesting to me. A jilted past love of Han Solo? Hell hath no fury…eh?
Question: So how old is Boba in Empire and Jedi anyways? I always figured he was the same age as Han. If the first Death Star took twenty years to complete…you also have to add the number of years that separates The Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith as well as the number of years between a New Hope and Empire. He was already around ~12-14 in Clone Wars right? Oh well, I guess he was in his mid to late 30s.
I had forgotten about that. I wonder if that inspired Leia’s disguise in Return?
I just was never into Boba Fett. Never saw the mystique. I just kind of saw him as some chump that got offed by a half-blind Han Solo…
I got a question. Did they even use Boba Fett’s name in the original Trilogy? I remember the first time I learned who he was is in the movie Can’t Hardly Wait. Did I miss something or did everyone back then learn about it from the action figures and merchandise?
I never heard the Fett is a woman theory.
There was a EU character named Jodo Kast who wore similar Mandalorian Armor and was sometimes mistaken for Fett. The woman talk brought that character to mind for some reason. If you can find it there a really great comic called Boba Fett: Twin Engines of Destruction that has Kast facing with Fett.
He had to be around 10 in Ep.2 because that is how long ago Sidious and Dooku found Jango and started Cloning. E.2 is 22 years before Ep.4 and there are 4 years between Ep.4 and Ep.5. So I’d say that Boba Fett was 36 in Empire.
speaking as someone almost entirely unfamiliar with the EU, the Fett-man is cool because of the helmet. and it’s that cool of a helmet. that and the mc chris tune is too much fun.
“a devious degenerate defender of the devil
shut down all the trash compactors on the detention level”
That sounds about right. So he is of a age with Han.
