Blu-ray

When are we gonna get Star Wars in Blu-ray???

I’m sure it would do loads for ps3 sales.

rog

Don’t tell me… you have several copies of Star Wars on VHS and DVD already :stuck_out_tongue:

Will the Lucas fleecing of Sci-fi nerds ever end? :stuck_out_tongue: Of course, will we ever allow it? hehe

my son doesnt even know what a VHS is!!

hahaha

rog

I actually had a friend ask me what my stack of old black laser discs I had were for…

I own 3 VHS, 1 VCD and 1 DVD copy of Star Wars… enough is enough! Damn you Lucas!!!

well, my best friend just got a new widescreen tv w/ a PS3, and Blu-Ray is beautiful. and as a fanboy who owns the special edition trilogy on VHS, the DVD releases of all 6, and the theatrical version DVDs of the original trilogy, i would TOTALLY shell out the cash for the Blu-Rays.

I have no doubt it’ll come to Blu-ray, just like it did for DVD. I’m sure it’ll come packed with documentaries or something (a BD is quite a bit larger than a DVD). If it does come out though, I’m not getting it.

…Immediately.

EDIT: I guess the only reason you’d want them is because they’d be in an HD format. While this would be nice, I think it’ll probably be too expensive to buy right off the bat. Bargain bin!

I’m sure Lucas will churn out some Blu-ray will during a holiday season after all the new trilogy DVDs and toy sales drop off past his liking.

Number of times I’ve owned THE trilogy…

Vhs taped off cable-1
Reg vhs - 2
1994 remaster VHS - 3
Special Edition VHS - 4
Bootleg S.E DVD - 5
Proper DVD - 6
ANH and ROTJ theatrical DVD -7 (I got this for X-mas. I refused to buy the trilogy yet again.)

That doesn’t even include the story of Star Wars records, the novels, and the radio drama. :stuck_out_tongue:

Same here.

Lucas is saavy. He was probably waiting for the HD war to choose a victor. Now he’ll wait for players to become affordable. I would wager sometime next year, once we’re all forced to have HD in the home (Feb 2009).

Why do we do it? :stuck_out_tongue: it’s a sickness, I tell you!

For an interesting juxtaposition…
How many Star Treks do you own?

Of the ST movies and multiple tv series… I own… NONE :stuck_out_tongue:
Guess that says something interesting about the StarWars vs. StarTrek debate.

Talos, I just noticed your sig. LMAO

When it comes to SW purchases I’m better than when I was younger. I’d spend like 75% of my income on Books.comics etc. Now that I actually have bills to pay, I don’t spend any money on SW unless I have the extra cash or there is something I really want. I did have to crack and buy all the concept Ralph McQuire figures.

No. You’re just not sick enuff. I have VHS (sans commercials) from when TNG, DS9, VOY, and enterprise were broadcast. I have TOS on VHS from re-runs in syndication. I was also a member of the Columbia House Star Trek collection and own some of those VHSs. I’ve got the movies recorded off TV and then received the six TOS movies package as a gift. They have all been watched so many times the scanning function does not remove the snow.

Since then there is Netflix…that’s all I’ll say about that. If I were to purchase the box sets, I would be out of a home. There IS a limit to my obsession. Once I can afford a Blu-ray player, I will probably purchase the first and second seasons of TOS. But they gonna need to convert them. They in HD-DVD at present.

Star Wars: My family had VHS tapes of the trilogy (and the Ewok movies, I’m a child of the '80’s) and then the VHS tapes of the 1997 releases too. I have the DVDs for all 6 movies.

Star Trek: A family member has acquired I believe every Trek episode ever by other means. I’ve been watching DS9 on the DVDs, which I get from the Uni Library because it’s faster than waiting for Netflix (though I do love Netflix, I wish they would put the ST on the automatic watching stuff like they did with Heroes… and with the original Battlestar…)

You can watch all the original Trek series online @ cbs.com

Yes, it’s a sickness.

This should be on everyone’s movie shelf.

Maybe not everyone.

indeed.

let me just say that i’ll be very pissed if the new Clone Wars movie comes out on Blu-Ray before any of the films.

I’m still waiting on a 1-6 DVD boxset. Anyway a Blu-ray version probably means more changes. I only want one, and it’s more of a change back, Greedo’s finger must go nowhere near the trigger. Oh and remove Hayden Christensen from Return of the Jedi.

seconded! makes no sense anyway. if Christensen’s playing Anakin in the ghost-scene, why no MacGregor as Obi-Wan? I’ll tell you why not–it would be frakking insulting to remove Alec Guiness. so why was it so easy to remove Sebastian Shaw? and while we’re at it, why not replace puppet ghost Yoda with a cooler, cgi ghost Yoda?
