BioWare making KOTOR 3!

It looks like there will be [url=http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=92630]a third Knights of the Old Republic game! No details yet but since BioWare is doing it itself we hopefully won’t have the problems that KOTOR 2 had.

Between this and Mass Effect for the PC that’s great news from BioWare this month.

I’ve been waiting on KOTOR3 since I finished the second game. I loved the first game. Hopefully they can intergrate the ‘ending’ or lack thereof into the 3rd game. I want to find out what happend to Revan as well as a lot of the other charachters from the first game.

I don’t want to have to play as an established charachter in this new game. Just give me a new charachter, a padawan with maybe a few choices for backstory etc. and have Master to report to for the first few levels. Then allow promotion to Master and the taking on of other padawans before the endgame.

I guess it’s time to start saving up for a new gaming PC. Nearly three years ago I promised myself a new gaming rig once the specs for KOTOR3 were released.

Thats wonderful news I loved Kotor and Sith Lords (more sith lords cause it had a more detailed ending). If they make a more detailed ending like Obsidian did in Sith Lords then it will be just plain awesome. I wonder if they will use a more real time combat system like in Mass Effect or are we going back to the semi turned based like in Kotor and Sith Lords.

CodeAndrew, if you liked KOTOR 2, are you familiar with the KOTOR 2 Restoration Project? There were huge chunks of content cut from the game before release (including actual endings for the rest of your party, not just someone telling you what happened to them), an HK-47 droid factory and another faction to fight. Much of the dialog and code was still in the released game and this group is attempting to mod the game to include as much of the cut content as possible.

I’ve been following their progress for years now, they can’t be too far away from release now.

There is also a KOTOR 1 restoration project. The cuts to it weren’t quite as severe as 2 but there are people trying to restore them http://team-jawa.kotor2files.com/ It hasn’t been updated in a while so progress is slow

Also for KOTOR fans anyone see the Movie Trilogy project http://z11.invisionfree.com/KOTOR_Movies . Some guy is editing together a movie from gameplay footage and some of his own voice acting. Episode 1 is out. It is really well done, defiantly worth a watch.

BRAIN SPLODE
omgomgomgomg i love this game…i probablky sunk 100+ hours into both 1 and 2

Sorry to be the bearer of bad new but the Kotor 3 news appears to be a misunderstanding. http://forums.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=552506&forum=22&sp=0

How about I prove you wrong by saying that we are not working on KotOR 3 and have no plans to start? It may be a rumor or w hope or w wish or whatever, but we are not currently working on KotOR 3 and we have no plans to work on KotPR 3 at this (or any afaik) time.[/b]

sigh dreams dashed away.

I thought this was iffy,

not that i wish wasn’t true but, its just that it isn’t the biggest company, and seeing as how they just pumped out mass effect and are planning on producing online content, and not just a few new armor’s or a pimped out mako, (p.s. i want me a pimped out Mako at some point) but continuing story, plus the two full out sequels, a mmo, and something there website states as a Lucas arts interactive project (god only know what the heck that is? my id says lightsaber goodness but it’ll probably turn out to be an Indiana Jones whip simulator either way i doubt its KOTOR.

Still with there being assimilated into the EA collective. (screaming running away at thought of Bioware being ripped apart by the EA bigwigs, and turning there cool and different things into Madden “0” why the hell do people still buy that same game every year. its still the same frak’in game.) there is a chance of this.

and as much of Bioware Booster, Fan, supporter, junkie. I am i want more Mass Effect, more than a Kotor sequel.

besides the company doesn’t make there fair share of the money on others intellectual property. a la the Original KOTOR; Bioware got screwed on it

^yep pretty
much
ME 2 has already been confirmed to be in the making, so i doubted KOTOR 3…it makes me sad

fraaaaaak.

Way to harsh my mellow, man… :frowning:

Sorry.

Believe me, when Kotor 3 comes out, I will be the first person in line waiting for it.

Speaking of Kotor 2…I know it got a lot of hate, but I really enjoyed it. It had HK-47!!! What more could anyone want??!!

yea i loved both of them very much, just the ending was confusing as some have already noted here.

i guess now i’ll just look forward to mass effect on PC, but really, is there any cooler weapon in a video game than a lightsaber wielded by someone with Force powers?

Wait, there was an ending?

I enjoyed playing through KOTOR II but it didn’t quite live up to the first one. I would have prefered an almost direct continuation of the first storyline with a lot more Revan. There was some nice backstory though. I didn’t like the the fact there was essentially another Jedi purge. I would like a reasonbly strong Jedi Order to work for like in the first game. Sure it was just after a jedi civil war but they had influence. Also, to any developers of KOTOR 3 should it ever occur, please include Coruscant as a proper world.

I must give the two games another play through soon. I’ve been wating for the Restoration project to be finished before going through them again. Also I’ve lent my copy of KOTOR to a friend. I really have to get it back.

Not until Gordon Freeman finally gets his hands on the Portal gun…

I will have to agree the story was kind of weak in Kotor 2; it felt like it had a lot of potential, but it was never realized.

Though honestly, my biggest gripe with the game was how every jedi could get battle meditation in Kotor 2, because in Kotor 1, only bastilla had it, and it was the Jedi’s ace in the hole against the Sith.

As far as the ending go, I don’t know…Kotor 1’s ending really wasn’t much better. In all fairness, after Kotor and Jade Empire, it appears that with Mass effect, Bioware is getting better at adding closure with their games.

i’ve only played the online flash version of Portal so far, but i can only imagine how kick ass that would be. or even better, if he could duel-wield that with the gravity gun somehow.
