Bicentennial Man 2/11 @ 10 PM ET

Tomorrow 5pm eastern?

Doubt it. Family function.

Consider that an entire generation had to pass before they could decide correctly. Often those who live in the past have to die before anyone is allowed to embrace the reality of the present. Think about the end of slavery in the US. It wasn’t as if anyone suddenly just started treating slaves differently because someone said they weren’t slaves anymore. More than a few generations had to pass before the notion their descendants were equal humans was truly taken seriously. People only get more set in their ways.

In fact, it’s probably no coincidence that the original president was an old white guy, while the one who decided in his favor was a younger black woman. Times change…

BTW, George Wallace (old white guy) actually died a good two years after Lynne Thigpen did, despite being over 30 years older than her. :frowning:

Okeydoke.

Not necessarily. The same action can be different crimes in different circumstances, or possibly not even a crime at all.

I shoot a man because I want his iPad, that’s murder.
I shoot a man because he’s Jewish, that’s a hate crime.
I shoot a man because he attacked my children, that’s self-defense.
I shoot a man because I’m fighting him on a battlefield, I get a medal.
I shoot a man because I believe he’s an alien monster, that’s a psychiatric issue (or an act of heroism, depending on if it’s true).

It’s all shades of grey. Could AI see these nuances?

Awesome catch. Wow.

That’s my original point of black and white. I was just saying your point about stealing makes you guilty. Self-defense killing is in the books. If an AI has recording of the act, then a computerized court wouldn’t have to have a trial in the first place imo. But, that’s assuming a perfect world.

I don’t think we are disagreeing, but saying similar ideas in different ways.

That should be on a plaque on a wall of justice…somewheres in sometime. Let’s go back in time and write on some stone tablets.

And here, I thought you originated the term…
