BBC's Being Human- has anyone else watched it?

So a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost rent an apartment together…

Sounds like the start of a bad joke, right? Surprisingly, it works.

The show centers around George, a sweet but neurotic boy with a genius IQ and a monthly “problem” after a werewolf attack while on holiday in Scotland; Mitchell, a confident, tall, dark, and handsome Irish vampire turned during WWI; and Annie, a naive and insecure ghost who haunts the flat the three share, having fallen down the stairs and died there.

Doctor Who fans may recognize George and Annie. Russell Tovey (George) appeared as Midshipman Frame, aboard the luxury space cruiser, Titanic in “Voyage of the Damned”. Lenora Critchlow (Annie) appeared in the 3rd season episode of Doctor Who “Gridlock” as Cheen, one of the inhabitants of the Motorway in New New York.

Anyway, I’ve recently watched all of it, and I must say by the end of the season, I was desperate for the next episode. It started out good but less than stellar, and improved over the course of the 6 episode season. It’s funny, not hokey. Compelling, not melodramatic. The characters are multidimmensional, full of heart, and likable. The baddies are bad. And there’s more coming. Season 2 has been greenlit. yay

I know a few of you have seen it, since we discussed it on twitter, but has anyone else seen it, and what did you think of it?

I think this show is Fantastic. I did think it was a little odd that they did not show the pilot when they aired it on BBCA. Then I tracked down the pilot and George is the only actor that is the same. AND it didn’t work very well.

I agree this show has gotten steadily better over the season and I am also happy that it got a second season.

I started watching it when it first came out. Then by episode four, I paused in the middle of the episode to watch something else expecting to come back to it. I never did.

If people keep saying it gets better, then I may pick up where I left off.

I caught a few episodes through Comcast’s On Demand service - I’m not subscribed to BBCA. It looks interesting and the characters are likeable, but it seems like they’re throwing away obvious chances at prolonged story arcs. Everything seemed to get tied up in one episode. Maybe some will come back to haunt the show.

I was just going to post a similar thread. I loved the series too. OK, going to go back, read all the posts in this thread and THEN respond to everything. I can’t believe more people didn’t watch it. Perhaps it’s because it was a little-publicized BBCAmerica show. Sigh. It was too good for the little publicity it received.

I’ve never heard of this show, but it sounds interesting. Is there a way to catch these online, like via Hulu or something?

We really like it and are definitely looking forward to the next season. I adore George.

Indeed. A friend of mine told me I needed to see it, so I checked it out. I wouldn’t have known anything about it, otherwise.

It was on the BBC earlier in the year, and then BBCAmerica this summer. I found it by “other means”. But I guess it’s available on BBCAmerica On Demand? And it looks like BBCAmerica is doing a marathon on Sept 21 starting at 11 am.

George is awesome! So cute and neurotic! And Mitchell, so dark and tortured! And sweet Annie, coming into her own, a formidable force!

The characters really pull you in.
