Look, I love BSG as much as the next guy (assuming we’re at Dragon*Con) but c’mon! Maybe, in this entire world, there’s something a bit more pressing for the UN to deal with?

this is completely insane. and cool. besides, we hear enough doom and gloom from the UN these days. why can’t they talk about something uplifting, like the near-total annihilation of humanity by nuclear robots with Oedipal issues?

The only thing I’m troubled about in all of this is that Whoopi frakkin’ Goldberg is the moderator. WTF?! I think the honor should have gone to either Romo Lampkin or the chic who was the lead captain in Baltar’s trial.

Okay, I really needed a laugh tonight and this did it.
I think Whoopi Goldberg is a good choice. She’s a huge fan of the show, she’s got the sci-fi/RDM connection through Next Gen, and yet she has mainstream cred, too; for instance, I’ve been trying to convince my mom for a year to try BSG and she always just politely brushed my recommendation off, but the day after Whoopi talked about BSG on “The View,” she was calling me asking when she could borrow my DVDs. Plus, if Whoopi can hold her own with the arguments on “The View,” moderating a panel at the UN should be a piece of cake. 
Though I second the Guinan hat suggestion : p

Politics and sci-fi shouldn’t mix. Having said that; Edward James Olmos and Bobby Kennedy jr. are good friends and have even been arrested together in protest against the US Navy (coincidental Admiral). I imagine he’ll have a lot to say to the UN folks.
