Babylon 5 1x10 Believers

Love Franklin’s staff. Professional people who challenge their superiors.

The parents are wrong in my mind - but what happens, I understand it.

LOL the planet Placebo.

I like that we get to see Doctor Franklin with a patient, I feel like we only see him treating people in crisis.

Normally, Glowy stuff is toxic…

Really?
They are alien. Who’s to say the boy wasn’t changed?
Well, if it doesn’t work he’s gonna die anyway.

I love that there is a fighter painted with Ivanova’s colors.

It’s very Star Trek. Although they never say it, this is essentially the Prime Directive in action.

The Dark Side of non-interference.

Heck with the kid, the Doc had it the medical bay!

And David Gerrold (former Star Trek writer) wrote it.

Population control.

It’s so interesting how each Ambassador handles the parents.
I get that they’re not us, but the complete rejection of the treatment and killing the boy when to me, after his surgery, he DID seem to have his soul still, it’s terrible and heart-breaking. Which is, of course, the point.
Strangely appropriate comment for this epiosode.

Kosh’s line is really good. Who’s got that in their sig?

I know! It’s a really interesting way to characterize them all.
And somewhat bittersweet knowing all the conflict that comes later… I’m at the start of S4 right now

And all of the changes that all of the people go through to get to that point, especially Londo and G’Kar.
Particularly Kosh’s comment. One of my favorite Koshisms.
See, you could do something there. Look at the son through the eyes of the parents. Show him glowing or something. After the operation, have him not glow anymore. But that’s not the point of the episode. He may have lost his spirit. He may no longer be one with the Egg. We’re still judging from a belief system but what if they know something we don’t.
I agree with Sinclair’s decision. He can’t get involved.
