No words for this… WOW…
I totally agree. It took a lot of guts to pull off this ending but it worked.
so much to think about.
(i kinda found the robots dancing to hendrix at the end a bit cheesy…)
i loved the music, the acting, the vfx holy crap, the story. it was just a super solid two hours.
SO SAY WE ALL
Gotta disagree.
While there was much to the show that I liked, like the first hour, there was a lot that I didn’t like.
They didn’t answer what Starbuck was.
[ol]
[li]She blew up in a viper in space.
[/li][li]They found a chard viper on Erf with her body in it.
[/li][li]Then there was the Starbuck we’ve had for season 4 who disappeared.
[/li][/ol]
Huh? how do these relate. She disappeared and that means what.
What was the point of Daniel.
Giving up technology - geez try living off the land with just the metal in your pockets. I hope you like the clothes you’re wearing because it’s hides and leaves after that. Not to mention being at the mercy of the weather for your crops etc. And those ships would have made nice houses.
Adama leaves Lee for what? It seems like the characters gave little thought to their futures beyond the next few hours.
Ditching technology was one of the ways to break the cycle.
The Daniel story was meant just to fill in some backstory. What Starbuck is left to the viewer. Although it is heavily hinted at that she is a angel.
True, and the writers made their point and usually I can accept this stuff, but this is drastic in the extreme. So drastic that I would have mutinied over it. And all it really did was delay the possibility of another cycle.
After our rations are exhausted next week we’ll be eating grass and bark unless I can catch a rabbit for us honey. Maybe we’ll have some wheat in the fall. Does anyone know how to mill it into flour? Or store it so it doesn’t rot? Gee I sure wish I had a panel or a stair from one of those ships that I could use as a shovel.
Yes but soooo much of the last season episode content was tickling us about what Starbuck is. And then we get almost nothing.
At least we know that Starbuck is Adama’s daughter … who can disappear.
Even still, Starbuck sort of turned out to be Gandalf. Gandalf came back with a new white cloak, Starbuck has her new white viper.
I love the show and even liked the finale, I just feel a bit ripped off.
AGREED!!
also, i really hate that Lee loses his dad and Kara within 60 seconds.
it would have been funny if archaeologists would have found pieces to a wooden model boat that predated cavemen… he he he.
i’m really nitpicking here, i would have loved if Tigh would have taken off his eyepatch after he hugged Ellen (in last scene we see of them).
I dont think that he literally meant she was his daughter.
Yeah I know
I agree… and yet, I’m fully ok with the finale. It’s gonna take some time to process this.
Scorpia, maybe Starbuck was one of the beings of light, like in the classic series remember, they brought Starbuck and Apollo back to life and there uniforms were all white. Were their vipers all white too? when they came back, its been awhile since Ive seen that classic series episode.
In New York City, were Caprica 6 and Baltar, the head versions of themselves that appeared in front of the REAL CAPRICA 6 and Baltar on our EARTH?
And was STARBUCK a “head STARBUCK” to everybody who saw her after she came back from the dead??
Appreciate your feedback.
I think it may have been one of the greatest show finales I’ve ever seen. It will take weeks for us to digest everything, and it was the type of ending that kept my brain racing well after it was over, even to the point of insomnia. In the end I kept the faith that Ron Moore would lead us to the end, and he didn’t let me down…
I’m usually a real good sleeper (a viking at it, if you will), but I spent at least 1 1/2 hours in bed thinking about BSG while trying to get to sleep.
I think giving up technology was inevitable from the start. They were never going to be able to live as a fleet forever, and they had always just been looking for a planet where they could settle down. Unless they found an already established civilization, i.e. their mythologized Earth, then they were going to have to go back to nature. Probably the same thing happened to the Colonials when they left Kobol…
I think you’ve struck on another one of those exact parallels from the original series, but instead I see the Head Characters as the Beings of Light and Starbuck in place of the resurrected Apollo from the OS…
Yeah I remember that. And Starbuck could be the new Ron Morized version. Good point.
Maybe we can infer that she’s an angel. Okay so what’s an angel then? She was very different from head six in that everyone could see her and she could touch things. It’s not like the show explored what an angel is at all.
I see where you are coming from but I disagree. They could have built the city that they were originally planing. Set up a civilization with industry etc. All they did was delay technology at the enormous cost of life and lifestyle.
I realize the writers had something they wanted to say and do and I accept that. There is the other side where the story needs to be believable. And for me I don’t buy the dumping of technology.
On the flip side:
Wasn’t that awesome to see all the new and old cenrutians fighting with and against the cast?
And Roslin’s death was harsh and sad.
And when Kara disappeared and they showed that shot of Lee from a distance I felt this sense of loss and looming loneliness.
The rippling Galactica when she broke her back was really cool
To themselves, yes. But not to humanity as a whole. They delayed technology until, presumably, our hearts and souls could catch up to our capabilities. Whether or not that succeeded is a matter for endless debate–but that was the intention. Give the best parts of themselves without starting the whole technological cycle anew immediately.
Sometimes a delay is not a bad thing. Sometimes it’s what you need to make the final product right.
Ah, but do you remember the episode in, I believe, Season 1 where Head Six became visible to everyone and could interact with things? Then, at the end, she walked around a corner and vanished. There is BSG precedent for Starbuck being an angel like Head Six and also being able to interact with humans and objects…
I think you are all missing the point …
This is a not a science fiction tale. This is not a story that could have gone one way or another … this is in fact, the truest form of history, laid out for us in a serial drama, to give us a lesson on what not to do.
RDM was given the story by Head Balter and Head Caprica … so stop hating and start destroying robots… we MUST stop the cycle.
I am going to destroy my computer now … it’s looking at me funny.
