They also did ID4 and Stargate (the movie). Maybe it’s the even-numbered syndrome. (:
Love Neil Tyson, glad to see him setting the record straight, again.
And doing so with some humor!
well i voted you couldn’t pay me, not that it looks horrible; cause it doesn’t. Its just that i’m sick of disaster movies right now; probably go to blockbuster and rent it when it comes out though.
I plan to see it, eventually, probably as a Netflix rental. Looks like it’ll be fun, but I don’t expect anything worth shelling out $8 for…
Oh, and you’re all wrong. The 2012 “prophecy” is completely misinterpreted. It’s not like the world is really going to end. Dread Cthulhu, who is dead but dreaming, will arise from his house in R’lyeh when the stars are right and consume the human vermin who infest this planet. The world itself will be fine.
I hope there will be a place for his most faithful and humblest of servants.
The Acolytes of Cthulhu are now excepting applications for new members.
Of course he will have a place for his followers. After all, he’s got six stomachs.
No. I didn’t much care for those either, though they do offer far more in the campy fun department than their other films.
Yeah, yeah, I said it: I didn’t much care for ID4 OR Stargate. Do I have to turn in my geek card now?
I’m going to print out about 100 of those and leave them in public restrooms.
We must spare our families the unspeakable agony sure to be visited upon them with the return of the Old Ones! Kill your families now before it is too late!
I can give you ID4. The Macintosh saves the world ending was a bit much. But, Stargate??
I just finished the movie, and I’m surprised to say I enjoyed it. Admittedly, I had low expectations after The Day after Tomorrow, and saying that 2012 is better isn’t a ringing endorsement. Still it seems Emmerich learned from his mistakes. I saw no Macintosh save the world from ID4.
Instead of seeking refuge in Mexico like in TDaT, the group went to Africa this time. I thought that was interesting.
I loved the looks of the Arks. I dunno whether they are scientifically sound, but they looked sweet.
As the movie was reaching its climax, I wondered to myself, “How will Emmerich top this?” Then, I read on IMDB that this is his final disaster film. d:
My goodness, there were so many people in this movie. Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson, The Operative from Serenity, Kate Freelander from Sanctuary, John Billingsley from Enterprise and SG1, Blu Mankuma from Robocop and various cartoons, and many more. Though, I did mistake Stephen McHattie (Hollis Mason / Nite Owl from Watchmen) for Lance Henriksen. Hey, they had similar sounding voices!
Anyway, I wish I had seen this in the theater is the point I’m trying to make. d:
