I wold love to see this movie covered as Chuck, and of course lots of GWC listeners, know so much about the space program. I also really like the movie, although most of my friends think it is a bit nerdy
Not Sci-Fi, but very geeky. I would definitly be down for it.
This is a must-do at some point.
Apollo 13 is one of the great stories of overcoming adversity. What makes it so incredible is that it is frakin TRUE. Those three astronauts should have been dead. How they and NASA worked to find a solution under such extreme conditions is a true testament to all of them.
In my science class arc I compare this story to that of Ernest Shackleton whose ship became trapped in the Antarctic ice in 1914. He and his team should have been lost. Once again, a testament to those explorers.
I would love if they included HBO’s from the Earth To the Moon mini series. It is one of the best shows on the Apollo missions.
An Apollo 13 podcast -nice. What’s so great about this movie is that it’s a true story. I’ve seen it several times, and each time I feel the tension watching the crew’s trying to survive, even though I know full well that they do survive.
Yeah, great story, but great movie too IMHO
This movie is easily one of my all time favorites. It would be fun to hear more of Chuck’s space camp tales as well.
One time, at Space Camp…
…which, incidentally, is why you hear so few Space Camp (or band camp) stories, of which I have, well, lots.
Agreed ! This is one of those movies you want your kids to see to show them what real heroes were.
Is this another one of those things I need to ask you in person?
So very true TG.
So do you think there’s any chance of gettting the guys to include this on the schedule?
I think it certainly warrants a re-watch, and though I think I missed two or three of the 12-episode set, the “From the Earth to the Moon” was quite an interesting docu-series. Ron Howard gave it just enough of a through-line to keep it from feeling too dry, as in some more scholastic or ‘public television’ sort of productions.
This is one of my alltime favorite movies. I would love to hear GWC cover this.
