If so, how do you like it? How’s it holding up?
Spouse and I are thinking of buying a Mazda3… when we have money. alas.
My '93 Miata has ~160k miles on it. But Sean might be a better source for new Mazdas. They bought one a while back.
Atchally, I’m more interested in the 160k+ range. My '96 Nissan just cracked 252,000 miles, and the end is nigh. (Plus, the Cylon alloy won’t bond with it.) I’m toying with getting one of those Mazda mini-mini-mini vans. So my questions are basically about how long Mazdas can last, with how little maintenance.
Thanks!
Just remember only girls are allowed to drive MX-5s. I know, it’s a great car, but I didn’t make the rules
Well, the Miata is pretty bulletproof. The 1.6l (and the later 1.8l) are longitudinal-mount versions of the motor from the 323 (and the turbocharged 323, though minus the turbo hardware). I can tell you that mine can sit in the garage for months at a time, cranks right up on demand, and doesn’t seem to mind me beating the crap out of it whenever I feel like it. As they produced over 1M of 'em worldwide, parts are readily available both new and used. Hell, here in the DFW Metroplex we even have a Mazda-only junkyard.
Of course, YMMV for Mazdas of other models and eras.
Just remember that cars are no replacement for masculinity. I know – that extension might make you feel more comfortable around the ladies. But I didn’t make the rules.
Three cheers for Chuck our Fearless Leader!
Every MX-5 of which I know the driver, is usually if not always driven by a guy. Not really sure I can remember ever seeing one driven by a girl actually.
I bought a truck for nothing but to help people MOVE? Great.
I quite agree, my car isn’t exactly a cool car. I’ve just watched a lot of Top Gear
The Mrs. drives a Mazda 3 and she loves the thing. It gets good mileage 31 -36 and is quite comfy inside. The 100k warranty isn’t bad either, all in all i’d say it’s a super nice car.
