Hey. I’m only familiar with the movies, but I’m into comics, novels, etc. – or I was when I had the time and money. Anyhow, here’s a question: Do any of the EU works deal with characters that quit the Jedi order? Like people who dropped out of the academy or quit the order or failed out?

[spoiler]The masters kill all their padawans in the first issue, but Zayne escapes. Clearly he’s not “part of the system” – at least through issue #29.[/spoiler]
Cade Skywalker in Legacy:
[spoiler]He’s pretty much a low-life bounty hunter hooked on death sticks to avoid visions of Luke (a la Ben) telling him to get his s#!$ together. Definitely not a good 'ol Jedi, though he’s kinda working his way slowly toward it.[/spoiler]
Jacen Solo in the Legacy of the Force Novels:
[spoiler]I can’t remember if he completes all his training or not, but he definitely has himself “declared” a Jedi master by the Galactic Alliance by political means. And he totally ends up a Sith lord down the pike…[/spoiler]
There are probably others – those are the ones I can just think of off the top of my head.
Ulic Qel-Droma and Exar Kun in Tales of the Jedi comic series
[spoiler]Ulic and Exar separately begin to learn ancient sith secrets and ultimately come together to revive the Dark Lords of the Sith [/spoiler]
Zek in the Young Jedi Knight book series
[spoiler]Zek is like a Roger Dodger friend of the Solo twins who lived on Courscant. He left behind when the Twins go off to the Jedi Academy. He eventually winds up joining the opposing Shadow Academy. [/spoiler]
Kyle Katarn from the Dark Forces graphic novels and the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight PC games.
Kyle isn’t really a full fledged member of the Academy. He’s more like a Jedi mercenary. Other than reading the books I highly recommend playing at least the Jedi Knight game.
