It’s gotta taste like something! And apple is a good flavor for a cake. I have to say, though, when it comes to baked goods, you all could learn much from my people.

Apple cake is good. It’s like carrot cake or spice cake. Yummy!
GR - do you have a good but simple recipe for strudel? My German heritage may be revoked someday if I can’t produce a good strudel…
Speaking of German food, I remember I went for about an eight mile jog up to that big cathedral on the top of the hill in Bamberg one morning. You live near there so you might now where I am talking about. I stopped by the Bahnhof, and got some breakfast. I was stunned, STUNNED I tell you to find that they put butter in place of mayonnaise for dressing! But it really wasn’t bad.
If you’re talking about apple strudel, I could get you my grandma’s recipe.
My favorite cake by the way is parrot cake.
The last one I made had apple and raisins and nuts. It tasted good but was a lot of messing around. I like simple. I like easy. I’d like someone else to make it…

Toll. Look what you’ve done. Now I’m hungry and I don’t even like bananas. I hate them. I could rant all day about bananas. Last night my GF told me that her sister went through a crazy period once where she’d smoke bananas. Or at least parts of bananas.

my mom is from Denmark and her idea of apple cake has absolutely nothing to do with cake–more like applesauce with mildly sweetened bread crumbs on top 
chocolate, though, is a completely different story. a great deal of american chocolate is not worth the effort
