Advice for somebody who moves to a new town

I’m in the process (still planning) to move to a foreign (though still German speaking town) to make my Masters degree there. Time is precious, because the semester starts middle of October. Now I’m searching for a shared flat (there is no campus) and a job there to pay the rent and me living there.
Since somebody of the GWC community maybe has experienced something similar in his/her life, any advice for me would be gladly appreciated.
Thanks

Andi

Have you approached GalaxyRanger ?

PS OMG! OMfrakkkin’ gosh! It’s my 1000th post!

CylonMatrix, you should never post again. That 1,000 looks too perfect.

I moved from California to Iowa when I was a younger lad, and there really wasn’t much to it. I wish I could think of some advice, but as long as you’re sharing a flat, you should be able to acclimate to the new region just fine, since you’re living with locals.

Isn’t everyone out there sharing the flat?

Hey-Ohhhhhhhhhhhh!

You’re right, when I’ve finally reached the point living there, it shouldn’t be that hard. Still have problems getting a shared flat and most difficult finding a job in Austria to pay all this.

I hope it all works out for you on the move. You should be able to find a roomate to go in on a flat with you at the school. Working restraunts or pubs might give you the flexibilty you need for your schedule.
