6.16 - What They Died For

my thoughts.

  1. Wow.
  2. Miles has a walkie (Ben’s got a plan?)
  3. Faraday’s concert’s gonna be packed w/losties (including Juliet?)
  4. Is Des gonna pull a Poltergeist? (Walk into the light.)
  5. You’d think that rounding up the non-concert goers would be the hard one, and they give that job to Hurley… My, how things have changed.
  6. Richard’s gonna have one hell of a headache when he wakes up. (must happen more than you’d initially think to immortals)

your thoughts?

A) Awesome!
B) Desmond sure knows how to pick up chicks
C) I totally had an Ace Rimmer moment during the campfire scene:

J: Not so fast there Jack my lad. You put your hand up before Hugo could speak. How about it Hurley?
H: Ahhhh… no dude.

Indeed, is Richard dead or not? He doesn’t age, but is that the same as “Can’t be killed by the Smokey train”?

As far as I remember right back to the beginning of this season, Young Jacob told MIB that he can’t kill him/them. The episode where Richard didn’t, but Sawyer saw him.

I believe that just about the candidates. Richard would be different. I think Richard could be dead. He did tell Jack on the Black Rock while he couldn’t take his own life, someone else could kill him. So, I think it’s possible that Smokey finally killed Richard.

Of course, I’d still like to see a body.

I hope that it wasn’t the end of Richard. He wasn’t one of the essential characters, but that quick scene shouldn’t have been his last.

I could see the Finale opening with a closeup of Richard’s “mascara” eye opening under the canopy of trees.

Agreed - Richard could very well be dead. But I am going to be very disappointed if that is how he goes out - basically an Artz like death with little fanfare or meaning. He was such a mysterious character and with all he’s been through it woud seem a really cheap way to go.

I had that thought yesterday - it seems weird that Ben would give Miles a walkie if he was planning on going over to the Smocke side. Although - it’s very possible that Ben was planning to fight Smocke but then changed his mind when Smocke killed (maybe) Richard like that - perhaps as usual Ben just adjusted his plans based on the situation and realized that if he wanted to survive he needed to join Smocke.

Another thought I had was - I wonder what Ben was thinking when Smocke told him he was planning on destroying the Island. I mean, didn’t Smocke just get through telling him that once Smocke got off the island Ben could have it all to himself? Kind of tough to be King of the Island when it’s been destroyed.

My random thots for this episode:

-It opens with a close of Jack’s eye, same as the first episode. (was it the left or right?)
-In the first episode Kate stitches up Jack, in this Jack stitches up Kate.
-Best Line: “And I thought that guy had a God complex before.”
-Second best line: “It’s just a line of chalk in a cave. If you want the job its yours.” If only to show that even Jacob is just taking his best guess.
-Ten dollars says Juliet is Jack’s ex-wife in the alternate timeline. They have been dragging it out way too long if it was Sarah or someone not tied into the story.

Anyone care to speculate on exactly what Windmore’s plan was?

Agreed.

Baltar

Exactly!! He’ll gonna use Miles and maybe Richard as the back-up plan.

I had two thoughts about the walkies. Either Miles has been listening the either time so he could get away or Ben gave Miles the walkie because he thought Smokey would kill him and he was prepared to die.

Yeah. I’m pretty sure Miles has been listening the whole time.

The best line was definitely: He doesn’t get to save his daughter
