Famous quote from it: “What’s the use of stories that aren’t even true?”

For anyone interested, Jorge Garcia (Hurley) and his girlfriend have recorded a podcast for their reactions reading the script of “LA X” a few months ago. You don’t have to worry about spoilers for following episodes.

Finally saw this and it’s awesome! The WTFs per minute was very high. I’m not sure how they can answer so many questions and ask so many questions at the same time. I guess we know why Hurley was bought to the island. I TOO think that Jacob may not be the good guy. What if unLocke IS Jacob from the ALTiverse? Why does Jack have a cut on his neck but not on his back as he did in the pilot? No, wait, he doesn’t have a cut on his neck, just blood. Richards chains + “I’m like this because of Jacob” makes me think of prometheus. Is Richard still alive after all this time as punishment? Couple that with Michael’s attempt to kill himself that didn’t work in season 4…

What would Mr Eko being doing now?

Poor Romeo, I mean Sawyer. It was very sad but there was a little voice at the back of my mind impersonating Millhouse saying “It started out like Romeo and Juliet but it ended in tragedy.” I’m so waiting for Kate to try and “comfort” him because I think that could end in a very passionate argument.

Is ALThurly sucking the luck out of HurlyPrime? And if he doesn’t think he’s cursed why was he in Australia? Was he reading the Flash comic? I couldn’t see.

Charlie saying he was supposed to die was awesome. I only just made the connection of Charlie’s name to the Dark Tower series by Steven King. “Char” is often connected with Death (Charlie the Choo-Choo and the Charyou Tree).

“It’s only over once.” Will that be this time or are we watching an iteration? What’s the Random Factor that throws it to the conclusion (a la Agent Smith from the Matrix).

If you find my brain please mail it back to me before next weeks episode. It’s going to be a wild ride!

Here’s a video someone made with the original plane scene and the flash-sideways version side by side:

I think my favorite is Captain Fallafel

Very cool! I was wondering about this when I was watching the new episode.

They timed it very well. The Alt-scenes play out over the same duration as the originals. Quite a feat of production and editing.

its almost timed too well… kinda creepy after a couple viewings… brilliant

I actually don’t quite believe that Jacob is all good and Esau/Smokey/NotLocke is evil. It’s that Esau’s answer " I just want to get off the island." is such a simple request - and (as we know it now) it isn’t about power, it isn’t about money, he just wants freedom. There doesn’t seem to be anything bad about his goal - a most natural request for someone who’s stuck on an island.

I mean, here you are (for some reason we don’t know yet) trapped on this island for several lifetimes, and you have this friend Jacob who somehow isn’t trapped and could travel anywhere he wants anytime. You don’t know the reason, but he never takes you with him outside of this island, and he never tells you why (I assume, given how secretive Jacob is to pretty much everyone he was in contact with.) Is it because he can’t, or is it because he doesn’t want to? Why doesn’t he want to? Does he hate me? Am I not worthy? How does he expect me to trust him when he wouldn’t let me out of my cage? Is he keeping me trapped on purpose? Is he the one who trapped me here? I mean, we’re talking hundreds and hundreds of years of twiddling your thumbs and doing little else but thinking like that on craphole island. I can see why he got to the point where he’d kill Jacob.

Sure, Smokey’s all killing everyone and stuff with his mystic island powers, but Jacob has been building an army for a looooong time too. With guns and stuff, it’s not like he’s exactly crying out for peace either.

“Can you be free if you’re not real?”

Oooh, thanks! I didn’t know he has a podcast!

Hi again all. Haven’t been on the site much lately because of… well… let’s just say that real world thing has gotten far too much in the way of late.

Anyway, I thought the episode was great. I went through a long analysis on my blog so I won’t repeat it here, I’ll just link.

Lost - 6.01 & 6.02 - LA X

Ah, nice.
Just what I needed today. Another blog entry about LA X. Will read it later in anticipation of the new episode tonight.

Great writeup!

Great input peeps. I didn’t put much thought into this until I read what everyone is writing. Desmond on the plane makes me wonder if clancy brown will be too since the stewardess from 815 called them the “Other 815” meaning maybe that multiple 815’s went back further and established the parallel island that jack, hurley etal are now on (I guess the bomb restored their timeline and trapped them all in a diff. one.) I guess they all figure that out and can be happy that they fixed what was their lives/timeline before they crashed. I imagine the show will end with the very cathartic moment that Jack realizes that they’re outside of that reality now and he can only suck it up and stay on the island. I guess since they can’t go back they’ll just have to save Jacob to keep Locke/Smokey/Esau/Anti-Jacob from doing whatever it is he wants to do.

P.S. Sorry for the run-on sentences.
