This week we take a glut of recent listener calls. And we run down the week in geek, including the Simpsons’ almost cancellation (and last minute reprieve), Adidas’ cool Wampa shoes, Superman’s new beard (!), and awesome new Jor-El pics. Thanks as always for your awesome calls!

WOOOT!!
Clip Show? If there is no Fable 3 talk I’m going to be very upset. :eyebrow:
Is there going to be a lot of …“Do you remember when…”
When you were talking about the Steve Jobs funeral protest, I thought of the NBC Merlin thing moments before you said it. I love it that you guys can pull something that obscure(? is it really) out - perfect reference.
For the record, I’m a fan off all boobs, including Denise Richards’ boobs.

I didn’t mention the very poor PR of the emails Netflix sent out on the price change and the “apology” was trying to beat the 2 minute thingie. I’m betting that the first PR person that came up with the pricing message was canned and then the second one who worded the “apology” one went out the door right behind him/her. Of course like others have posted Netflix has now put the kabosh on the Netflix/Qwikster split…which is a good thing. And the email I received wasn’t from the CEO this time, but from The Netflix Team…so at least he got smart enough not to put his name on it this time.
I agree with that statement but the casting director who tough she would make a good physician in The World is not Enough was either really drunk or mesmerized by her boobs.
They are really nice boobs but let’s face it Sophie Marceau was way better looking in that one (and showed side boobage
So no Bill Murray, no Ghostbusters 3. I didn’t know you needed him to make a lousy sequel.

Sean, maybe I missed it but does The Lady Anne have a helopad? I don’t see one in the specs or on the pictures of her bow. The Wild Goose had a helicopter pad at one point in time, but it has been replaced in her many retrofits.
Strangely enough I follow mega yachts… I don’t know why because I hate the water and could never afford one but I do love them to death.
But in answer to you’re question, you are correct sir - no. Her hull design originally was going to allow for one on the bow but the initial group of investor/owners thought having a bird parked on deck (and the facilities to support it) would ruin the view so it was later decided that a runabout would deliver the owner(s)/guests to the ship while at sea.
BTW: Damn it the Wild Goose was pretty before the upper deck was added.
Sean,
Absolutely. The Wild Goose was one of the crown jewels of her day!
I suspect The Duke would be half-pleased half-saddened about what “progress” did to his yacht transforming her into a dinner cruiser. Such things often happened in great John Wayne movies spanning time frames or about an older successful businessman that he filmed closer to the end of his career such as The Sons Of Katie Elder, McClintock, El Dorado, Big Jake, Hatari, Donovan’s Reef, and The Wings Of Eagles. Half-pleased that his pride and joy was still sailing 30 some years after his death and half-saddned that it was transformed into a dinner cruiser and no longer the carefree adventurous boat it once was.
In keeping with the theme of “redonculous” amounts of money, GWCville, John Wayne, and islands; did you know that at one point in time John Wayne himself owned an island? Originally named Isla Taborcillo off of Panama it now has the nickname “John Wayne Island.” I’m not sure if this meets your needs, Sean, since it is close to the Panama coast but I sense Bwana would be pleased if you were able to pick this one up.

Audra, I had actually just picked out a new cat to keep Rodney company. Brought her home today after she got spayed.
Nope, haven’t been to Iceland. It’s perceived as rather expensive and there are plenty of more accessible travel destinations. That said, I would really like to go.

Still seen as expensive even post-financial collapse? Huh. Several of my more well-off friends have made jaunts to Greece this year and last since vacation packages are suddenly a lot cheaper. I assumed the same would be true of Iceland. It’s definitely on my list of places to see, but comes in below Turkey, Scotland, Berlin, Macchu Picchu, Sao Paolo, Bogota and Portugal, so I probably won’t make it to Iceland until I’m at least 60. Le sigh.
Chuck, you are correct, the book I was thinking of was “Bowling Alone”. I have not read it, but, um, saw the author on the Daily Show.
And, from now on, it is Mr. Sean. “Mr. Fire Breathing” my feathered ass.
