#271: News & Voicemail Show

JUST along the border. I wasn’t all that much south of you (middle of CT) and I never heard that before.

Yeah! More Elcor cast! I should call in as an Elcor.

For what it’s worth, I didn’t think Thor was that cheesy. On the cheese scale it was somewhere between Iron Man and the Chris Reeve Superman. Also, Thor had a lot of comedy (on purpose), which makes everything much easier to swallow.

Can SacSwipe be the name of a new Transformer?

I second this!

If Apple builds the medical tricorder will it be called the iCorder?

And the idea of inserting something from Apple into one’s ass (iProbe?) reminded me of their EULA’s, I always feel like I am having something inserted (into my colon/semi colon)when I have to agree to one of those. Gives new meaning to iTouch! And for the testicular testing how about iBALL?

What is that site? Trek and Rush? That’s as odd as TAS and Yellow Submarine.

I know. I actually only looked at the home page for the first time just now.
A site dedicated to fandom of the music group Rush and Star Trek? Weird.

I wonder how they get away with posting the whole Star Fleet Tech Manual contents like that. http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/sftm.php

Sssssshhhhhhhhhh!!! Michael Bay is listening…

I had that Star Trek manual in the 6th grade! …and the same sense of humor.

Really? You and I must be around the same age then. Cuz that’s exactly when I got my Star Fleet Technical Manual. Damn, I fraking loved that thing. That and my Enterprise deck plans.

Okay, that’s brilliant. I just shot juice out of my nose laughing.

Yeah, we’re old. My kids (twins) are in the 6th grade now. sigh
I think the one I had included the deck plans. It was blue hard cover with the Starfleet insignia.

Best “exitado” mistake ever: while studying in Ecuador one of my best friends told her host mom, “estoy muy exitada a asistir la iglesia contigo.” Looks of horror abounded until the teenage daughter laughed uproariously.

Re NPR podcasts what y’all should be subscribing to in addition to Science Friday: Pop Culture Happy Hour! In iTunes you have to search for Culturetopia and PCHH is published within that. I never listen to Culturetopia but I greedily grab my PCHH every Friday afternoon. One of the hosts, Glen Weldon, is NPR.org’s comic book critic. Yes, they have on of those. I’m kind of stalking him.

You guys, I had NO IDEA what I was in for when I brought #271 to listen to on a drive to Baltimore. So much “homance!” So much hysteria!

Perfect-bound softcover with a red cover inside a black plastic binder with a blue insert in a clear plastic pocket for the front cover.

We have two.

Yup. That’s same as mine. And my page with the color codes is upside down. A misprint. Which I’ve heard makes it extra valuable as a collectors item.

I’m pretty sure this is the one I had. I didn’t have it for long though. I let someone borrow it and never got it back.

This 'cast was classic hilarious. I literally spent an afternoon listening and guffawing with tears running down my face. Good thing I wasn’t at work

Just Frakkin’ Ossim.

I have long since given up listening with students aboard, but THIS one I couldn’t even have on while DRIVING!

I couldn’t drink my tea for fear on spraying the windshield!

This has to be one of the most hilarious casts EVAR!!

Thanks so much, you guys.

I was totally engaging my core the whole time! LOL

Same here, I was grateful the drive to work this morning was short and I could enjoy most of the cast stationery and the only risk to myself and others was the proverbial side splitting and resulting mess:D

This year’s Chuck renewal campaign was a way to point out to the advertisers how little Nielson ratings actually mean. People would tweet advertisers thanking them for supporting Chuck with a #NotANielsonFamily hashtag.

OMG this is epic, well done UD!
