The favorite pastime of “Complex” people is Dictionary Roulette. Nothing in the definition describes intelligence, talent or ability. When people talk about “Complex Characters” in literature or film (ie. Firefly ladies) they are referring to development and back story. In Psychology “Complex” is defined as: a system of interrelated, emotion-charged ideas, feelings, memories, and impulses that is usually repressed and that gives rise to abnormal or pathological behavior.
I believe the word they are looking for is Irrational not Complex. 
This is like saying, “Antarctica is beautiful, but if you don’t want to live there you are weak”.

Well, a woman can be complex and irrational! In fact the real part and the imaginary parts can be irrational, or both can be! Or neither, but that is boring.
I believe Pi is an irrational number, yet it is also a transcendental number.
I would lean to transcendental, the other path leads to madness.
Yet a third definition: composed of many interconnected parts; compound; composite.
In the 70"s they were real. Nowadays most are imaginary. :groucho:
In Sean’s case they are synonymous.

Sean’s post listed my reaction in the cast first in the long line of criticizers – I don’t have a time stamp for that moment, but I distinctly remember simply laughing and saying something like, “what?!”
At that moment I was extrapolating all the hilarious unintended consequences of using a word like that!
