#244: Geekdom, Part I

For some reason Aeris’ death didn’t do much for me. Now, when Red XIII found out just what happened to his father… that killed me. :frowning:

Man I really need to play FF7 again sometime.

Red 13’s story choked me up too.

Ppl are clamoring for SE to remake FF7 for the PS3 with updated graphics and the likes.

I’d love to see a remake of FF7 but Yoshinori Kitase (producer of FF13) is on the record saying that the chances of that happening are slim to none due to the sheer amount of work and cost it would take to completely rebuild the game from the ground up for HD consoles.

If Square ever does get the project going I sincerely hope they do a proper localization though.

I think Audra should do her next observer-participant story on SCA. I know almost nothing about it. I’ve got a buddy who is really big into it, but he’s extremely tight-lipped about it. I’ve lived within two hours of Pittsburgh my whole life and have only become aware in the last couple years that this thing was going on.

I loved the Geekdom arc. Just wish I had finished it sooner to take part in the discussion.

Those highball glasses are bad ass. I’m imagining that you were drinking something like tequila on the rocks or Romulan ale or something. Looks like a good time.

I’ve been in the SCA for decades. (Wow.) It isn’t a secret society. :stuck_out_tongue:

Pennsic actually isn’t a good first event. It lasts two weeks (though you don’t have to go for all) and requires a lot of planning. But there are tons of smaller events all around, with cool armor, weapons, and archery.

Thanks for the website! I found this one helpful as well: http://www.scademo.com/index.php

I didn’t mean that my friend acts like it’s a secret society but that he is still in the “geek closet” when it comes to SCA. And we’re no longer close enough for him to confide in me. I may have to check it out if I can get a costume, tent, and a small cask of of ale.

I still say a day at SCA would make a good segment on a future podcast.
