#232: Dazed & Confused, FSL 2.0 Awards, Pilgrim

Dazed & Confused has that elemental stuff about initiation and the circle of life. Even if you didn’t grow up in that time, it’s still so applicable. Depending on where you live, classic rock never went away. For me and people I know, don’t apply the movie to our high school years; it’s more like our college experience.

Teen Movie is on HBO this month.

I went to a high school with a population of around 300. Graduating class was like 75. I believe about half the school was in the band, including our quarterback. At the time, the term “band f*g” was rampant in the area and neighboring schools, but not where we were. The area was not without predjudice, but it was nice that we were spared that one.

Don’t I know it, I’ve had that prom song in my head all month :stuck_out_tongue:

“High Enough,” rad power ballad by Damn Yankees, supergroup featuring Ted Nugent and others:

Definitely a classic. This has probably been said elsewhere, but Friday Night Lights is great for portraying small town life. I know a lot of people who don’t watch it because it’s about 3 things they don’t like: football, high school, and Texas. But it’s really about coming of age in a small town, and it’s one of the best shows on TV these days. And you can watch seasons 1 through 3 on netflix instant. The first 2 episodes are a bit slow, but after that you’ll be hooked.

I’m glad you guys enjoyed Sherlock. I thought it was great. I understand there will be more made.

So will we get awards we can post, or should we whip up something for ourselves?

hehehehehehehehe…You said “whip”

I saw Scott Pilgrim last night. My theory is that he is Codex in a RPG who decided to run a male character.

Also recently caught Scott Pilgrim. We enjoyed it (particularly the recognition at the end that Knives isn’t angry at Ramona, but at Scott, whose fault it all was), and my favorite ‘evil ex’ was the vegan guy. F-ing hilarious.

I just finished the 6th (and final) book last night. Cas, I definitely recommend them if you liked Knives and enjoyed watching her work out her feelings–that gets a slightly longer arc in the books.

I am trying to decide if I like the ending it had, or the alternative one on the DVD where he ends up with Knives.
