I noticed it, but didn’t want to be extra annoying given my correctness standing. Would the crue prefer if we did point it out? I hear missed bleeps every so often.
Is it me or is there less activity on the main forum since FSL 2.0 started?
Don’t have stats, but that’s definitely my impression.
looks that way to me too. I can’t imagine why though. Is there a summer lull on GWC? Or has the excitement of FSL:2.0 Just overpowered comments on the 'cast?
Well I for one didn’t get a chance to listen to the 'cast until today…
I went ahead and watched the 1969 episode of SG-1 and it was so much fun I’m seriously considering just jumping into SG-1 to watch (though I recently started watching Enterprise, and with World Cup, I think I need to hold off starting something new lol).
Garak! He is a crafty you-know-what… I have plans for him on my team. You shall see! And I’m glad you guys didn’t pick him, because that means I get to keep him.
Your discussion of Marsalis was great, I too watched him on PBS, though I thought he was a bit simplistic (I did get to grow up going on Saturday mornings to Symphony for the Kids events… which were awesome). IIRC there are some objections about the way he teaches music (Armando would know more, I’m sure, as this is hazy and from about 8-10 years ago), but he’s great fun to see. And I love Maya Angelou. The world’d be a better place if everyone read her work
Just finished listening. One of the best podcasts ever!
BTW, I haven’t changed…
Just started this podcast, and I am glad to see that I am not the only one that quit watching SG-U because I am just not in the mood for it
I really appreciated Audra’s discussion of the difficulties in teaching today, balancing between authority and kindness. I can totally relate to that. You must have a firm hand, or the classroom is out of control. At the same time, you want to love the students, and encourage them. I certainly don’t think I always find the right balance there.
I didn’t realize till now that Voltron (US) was nothing like the original. I remember it, but had always perceived Power Rangers as a knock-off from Voltron, that they were both basically the same concept. I enjoyed learning more about the history of Voltron here.
Power Rangers? Or G-Force?
Think Power Rangers is closer to Voltron than G-Force. PW formed up to become a robot and much of other stuff through the incarnations…G Force formed up and become a ship.
Miss me some BotP
DV, thanks for the comment, and welcome! I really admire Hammond’s leadership and really try to emulate his style. I, too, find myself falling short in this manner – one of my biggest flaws is being too soft about policies and excuses students always seem to have. It drives me crazy, so I need to keep working at it.
Apparently, Stephen Tobolowsky – aka Glee’s Sandy Ryerson, aka Ned “The Head” Ryerson, aka “Needlenose Ned”, aka the guy from the Chinese restaurant who let work get in the way of trying to make it with Mary McDonnell in Sneakers – has a podcast, and apparently it’s decent:
It’s very entertaining ranging from laugh out loud to stories that are so moving you feel like having a good sob. If you do start listening to Stephen and his wonderful story telling then take a look at his DVD “Stephen Tobolowsky’s Birthday Party” which was the inspiration for the podcast.
I picked a copy up from Amazon UK a couple of months ago for a reasonable price, paid for less that’s for sure:D
Thank you for the welcome, Audra
I think I myself erring more in the opposite direction, being too strict- but then I teach high school, whereas I understand you teach adults. Plus, though we are the cheapest American school in the country, still a lot of my students are upper middle/upper class of society, and have a rather large concept of entitlement.
