well, when i lived in El Paso not many people had the Texas accent either… not even a lot of Hispanic accent. Though one of my English teachers did have southern drawl, but she was from Tennessee, i think…
i guess one would need to go to more rural areas to find the stereotypical Texas accent. In cities like El Paso or even bigger ones like Dallas, Austin, Houston is harder to find people speaking like that… since the cities are full of people not originally from Texas…
