Is that this weekend…or the upcoming?
As big a fan as I am, I was disappointed in the new flick. I could write a lot about that but I don’t have time at moment…lol… I was thinking more a fav ep. watch? Any favorites? I have at least one obvious one (see signature, lol)
Couldn’t possibly agree more…from someone who to this day cannot look at a redhead for more than seven seconds without a dope-slap from the wife and a comment about, “drop the Scully-lust, you big dork”, I was wholly unimpressed with the script AND the performances entirely.
With all the directions they could have gone, and all the “thank you, fans” effort they could have put into this project – why? Why? WHY??
Oh, I am sad. So sad now.
Oh, fave episode? Either ‘Memento Mori’, or ‘Jose’ Chung’s From Outer Space’. =)
I too suffer from Scullylust my friend. Those are two great ones! Home, of course, is classic. Any of the ones where they stepped out and went a little humor I like. Jose Chung, Clyde Bruckman etc. Anything written by Darrin Morgan was awesome. They needed to keep him on longer…
Yah, me too. It just felt tired and dull. Our two heroes just sleptwalked through it. Too bad.
Some favorites: just about all the mythology episodes.
Favorite humorous episodes:
-Clyde Bruckman (of course)
-War of the Croprophages (Scully is great ! “This is no job for an entomologist”)
-Quagmire (is this the one that rains frogs? and the dog gets eaten?)
-Small Potatoes
-Bad Blood
Well, I could be at this awhile. So those are a few of my favorites.
There were what, 240 some episodes, and about 200 of them were better than the second flick I’m afraid. I know they wanted to stay away from the heavy mythology–but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t have used SOMETHING from the series as a basis–ala Star Trek II–and explained it in a 30 second intro and made it something really cool… (Maybe something to do with William??? Our son is in trouble…etc.). not a thriller that doesn’t really thrill, and that the main characters only resolve by dumb luck rather than using their particular skills)
All that being said, it would have done better if released in October rather than heat of last year’s major movie season. you can’t give a movie a 30 mil budget total and send it up against summer blockbusters. Almost like they wanted to kill it…
On first viewing I was not a big fan of the new movie either, however after watching it on Blu-Ray, I have come to appreciate it a lot more. I think my anticipation just got my expectations up way too high. I would highly suggest anyone give it another try. Overall it was a good story and a good x-file.
As far as favorite episodes go, I always love watching the arc when Scully gets abducted back in season 2.
Duane Barry
Ascension
One Breath
Great emotional episodes.
Well, someone unaware of my disappointment did get me the blu disc for my bday. Maybe I’ll give it another try. I still am not sure my issues with the plot being more like a reg. episode than a movie will be addressed by the upgrade, but I’m willing to take a look…
You’re absolutely right. That’s a great Arc…probably one of the reasons when they first started releasing eps on VHS I grabbed these three right away…then came the DVDs… will blu follow? sigh…
I love The X-Files. Gillian Anderson is queen in my book. As for the new movie I liked it bettertha the first one but that could be because of the glaring errors they madein representing North Texas. You cannot see the Dallas skyline from the desert.
Not to mention the lack of Neanderthals…
True, but the obvious errors they made with Dallas annoyed me to no end because they generally did a good job on the show itself with locations. At least they got the cop cars right.
I’ve actually just started re-watching the series after discussing the awesomeness of the show with a co-worker the other day.
