Why is the Fifth hiding?

What’s everyone’s opinion about why the Final cylon is hiding? Did it hear the music? Is it different from the other Four?

I beleive he/she/it is completly different from the rest he/she/it is the one who had a plan all along.

or…

he/she is just fat and waiting to lose weight to make her/his big appearence.

just pick the one which is more logical to you

It owes the rest of the Tighlons some money?

Seriously, the only thing that would make sense to me is if it either knew from the beginning what it was and had a “plan,” or has been dead and is awaiting a resurrection. Personally, I am going with the “plan” option.

So far I like both of these, a fat, mooching cylon. Hmmmm…

Laura scares him or her?

The fifth cylon is love.

I guarantee Audra likes that option

well, maybe not that one in particular…

The Fith Cylon probaly knows what/who everything everyone that has happened from the begging. I’m gonna guess Peg Leg or The old man himself.

Any1 else share my thinkin?

I’m sort of torn about even wanting the identity of the final Cylon to be revealed… The whole mental guessing game, picking out clues, sifting through my own manufactured paranoia regarding the characters, gleaning little bits from RonMo’s commentaries… For four-ish years, “guess the Cylon” has sustained me. What am I gonna do when all is revealed?

btw, I’m sure you guys all noticed by now, the little intro text changed from “they have a plan” to “all will be revealed.” I’m betting The Plan went all to craaaaap when the centurions gunned down Cavvel, Caavel and Cavell.
and Simon.

The thing is, we still don’t really know what the frikkin plan was supposed to be.

So anyway, the final Cylon is hiding out down at Joes.

[Edit]

I’m gonna guess Peg Leg or The old man himself.

Dude, I’m totally there with you at this point. Those are my two picks, although a few podcasts ago the Voices in my Pod made a pretty good case for Zarek also. I almost could lean in that direction, too.

That’s three so far that believe the Fifth is like a puppet master who knows all. I can hear RDM now, “You know the typical thing to do is bring in an omniscient being to answer all our prayers. Wrong! Not on this show.” Followed by his maniacal laugh. He is an evil man and we love him. We are a twisted bunch.

But… RonMo lies… sometimes.

ARGH! MY EYES!!

I think the fifth Cylon’s been hiding in the CIC all along (Gaeta) or a Raptor (Racetrack - I still think there’s a chance she could be it! No one’s THAT lucky so many times)

Either:

A) Does not know that he/she is a cylon

B) Is running all the puppet strings and you can’t do that from the Brig

C) Is very afraid of pipes.

Why didn’t the fifth one hear the music and join the others in that room?

Maybe he/she wasn’t on the Galactica? Maybe he/she was on a different ship and was therefore unable to hear the music?

If so… can anyone think of any major/interesting characters who were off-ship during that time?

Just a thought…

…He/she was locked out after Tigh told Tyrol and Anders to "close that fraakking door."

That’s great. I can totally see that. There’s Gaeta trying to open the door, shaking his head and finally going back to CIC wondering where the music went.

For a while I’ve thought that perhaps the Final Cylon (FC) is either fundamentally different in nature from the four Tighlons, or in conflict with them. Either way, if the music at the nebula was meant to trigger their “awakening”, perhaps the FC was not in on this setup.

If my idea that the FC is a “rogue” Tighlon is correct, then the other four might be there to keep an eye on the FC, and/or stop them reaching Earth. In this case it would make sense that the music was part of an early warning system that activated the four once they were within a certain proximity of Earth (from which they originate, according to the hybrid).

I still think Baltar’s in with a chance at the FC. For a while I was convinced it was him, and that he was perhaps a rogue Cylon that the other four were meant to keep an eye on or stop reaching earth (and bringing the colonial-Cylon conflict with him). I never bought the idea that he could have survived the blast on Caprica and have always seen Head 6 as a deliberate construct designed to guide him in some predefined purpose that could be of his own making, prior to his going into deep cover in the fleet - so deep that even he doesn’t realise his true nature.

I’ve been cooling on the idea of Baltar as the FC lately, suspecting that he and Starbuck could be something else entirely. Starbuck returning from the dead suggests that there is more going on that just the seven original skinjobs and the Final Five as represented so far by the four Tighlons, unless she is the FC and Baltar is just a regular guy who happened to survive a nuclear blast (maybe he hid in a fridge?!) and has a very convincing imaginary Cylon friend (or two, with Head Baltar). I doubt this scenario very much. Starbuck and Baltar both may be creations of some other entity, either from the outset or via copies of the original human versions.

Maybe this other entity is the FC, or the Cylon God - a real physical being who created the seven original skinjobs and who therefore has some (at least quasi) legitimate claim to be their god. The FC and the Cylon God may be one and the same, and could still be a rogue Tighlon who’s gone off and created the newer Cylon models against the wishes of their Tighlon peers, who are now out to keep an eye on the FC and/or foil the FC’s plans for universal domination. if Baltar and Starbuck are creations of the FC (or of some other force entirely - a real wildcard possibility here), then the FC could be anyone, and we could still have some sort of explanation of Baltar’s and Starbuck’s weirdness (e.g. as related to their turning up more-or-less unscathed after what should have been certain death).

However, I still think Baltar is a good candidate for the FC along the above lines (I’ve argued for Baltar as the FC and the Cylon God elsewhere here). But of course we still have to explain the enigma that is Starbuck.

To return to the subject of this thread, my money is on the explanation that the FC is different in either nature or (maybe more likely) purpose to the four Tighlons, and that the music was only ever meant to trigger the four, who have a different agenda which may be in conflict with that of the FC. So I suspect the FC is still unaware that they are a Cylon.

Are youse guys all kidding?

I know exactly why the final cylon is in hiding.

First there’s all the skinjobs - #3s - “give me answers, validate me, yadda yadda”, the sixes no doubt angling to get laid for the ultimate score, having to reply to Leoben’s metaphysical ‘there is no spoon’ craaaap, dodging Athena’s handgun, having to get down and give Boomer a good slapping, and then alll that effort of eliminating all those skeevy Cavils - publically. And then as supreme being having to explain to Simon why he never gets any lines (“dude - get yourself a better agent”).

Then there’s the hew-mans…
Roslyn following you around like a puppy (well actually I’m seeing it pretty similar to the threes) ‘fulfill prophecies. save humankind. blah blah blah’
Baltar - having to deal with him, and his Balcubines.
and no doubt the quorum will demand to know about blah blah blah
Extracting the pegleg from up his ass that Gaeta jammed there for giving him so much craaap.

and then the final 4
Oooohhh yeah Chief will be wanting words.
Dodging Tigh who WILL be wanting to land one on him.
Having to explain in short simple words to Anders how there’s a difference between hatesex and a relationship/marriage… and why shooting friends isn’t nice.
Giving Tori a darned good spanking (hey he’s supreme being he has to get some fun sometime) and explaining to EVERYONE else why he neglected to give her any morals

All that crap to deal with, I’d be in frakking hiding - urgh.

Actually, I am just lazy and don’t get around too well.

“Come on, look at these little legs!”

My eyes!
