Oh, man, you should see it. It’s filled with local art, big and open. The “Grand Reading Room” has tables and chairs and couches. And they’re still filling the shelves. It’s absolutely gorgeous.
My branch library has an excellent display of local homeless people.
Oh! Another one of my favorite romantic comedies is on Fox right now: Benny and Joon!
Hmm. I’ve never even heard of it.
Not here… we got Reno 911 reruns.
What?!? It’s Johnny Depp, Mary Stuart-Masterson, Julianne Moore, and Aidan Quinn.
Fantastically funny!
Yeah, 1993… that’s too long ago. I hadn’t really begun to live back then.
Benny (Quinn) takes care of his mentally ill sister, Joon (Masterson).
Sam (Depp) is a quirky guy who thinks he’s Buster Keaton. He becomes a love interest for Joon after she “wins” him in a poker match off her brother’s not-so-nice friend, who happens to be his cousin or something. Ruthie (Moore) is Benny’s love interest. Very sweet movie.
You’re not that much younger than me, are you? (Lord, you’re not one of the babies, too?) I was all of 18 when it came out. I saw it in the theatre with my friends, and then dragged my family to go see it, I loved it so much.
Nah, I mean before college, I hardly did anything. I lived at home, I studied, I stayed home, and I never got in trouble, and I never even went out to movies that much.
(Then I went to college and all went to hell. That’s that’s a story for another day…)
I hear ya. I graduated when I was barely 17. So I was really young in college. I never did anything, cause I still lived at home. Once I graduated, though, all hell broke loose.
Oh, if I had spent even a total of 10 hours studying in college, I’d probably have cured cancer by now. I still to this day I have no idea what I did in college. Mostly slept and watched TV, I think.
I rushed through college. I just wanted to get out and start my real life, ya know? If I could go back… Ah, well.
Oh! I know one thing that you’d know about the movie. It made The Proclaimers’ 500 Miles popular!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg
:(.
Oh… THAT is what that’s all about. I remember in 1993 summer I was in summer school… and this one guy on my floor, the cool one that all the girls liked, he kept playing that song constantly. I didn’t know why he like the song so much.
Grrr Argg? Is there mutant enemy near by?
Yup- BTW What the hell are you doing up at 6:30 in the morning on a Sat?
I woke up the pee, and now I’m awake. I feel angry about this.
Me, too! I got a text message that brought me to consciousness, then I noticed my full bladder. Now, I’m awake and sneezy.
