See, that never made sense to me. “Heads up” would seem to indicate that I should look up. Wouldn’t “heads down” make more sense? No doubt that was in no small part why gym classes usually ended up with me getting hit in the face. 
True. I still think that I’d mess up - the hubs always says that I should have been blond!
No “heads down” doesn’t make more sense because if you have your head ducked down you can’t see what’s coming at you. It’s more of a “Be aware of what’s around” you thing to start with & kidn of went from there.
