Of course. Do you really think that we’d go this far to perpetrate a ruse based on a single, off-the-cuff, joking comment?
I stand by my statement.

good night, Mr B!
have you met us?
yes, I know, not really. you knew what I meant
So, really, really, Carebears is the next arc? Sigh…
Really, really?
Did I ever tell you, I was working as a barista one time at this cafe in NYC, and Gabriel Byrne walked in! I sold him green tea! He sat down, had his tea, and talked on the phone for a while. And then a friend of mine, who worked as a sound guy on one of his movies, went to talk to him and tell him how much he enjoyed working with him. Mr. Byrne smiled and politely nodded, and then he ran away.
The whole time I was thinking, “Dean Keaton is drinking green tea in MY cafe!”
Ha- The only famous person I’ve ever been that close to was Ed O’Neil. He was in my high school cafeteria.
Apparently, I’ve met a few celebrities around… at restaurants and such. The only problem is, I don’t recognize most of them, until someone told me who they were. And mostly, I didn’t care that there was a celebrity sitting next to me, since I was too busy eating.
That would be you- opportunities missed on account of fish tacos and pho!
Oh, wait, I did see Julian Lennon at the Hard Rock Cafe in London, but he was across the room.
Does he really qualify ??
Gabriel Byrne’s best movie----> Miller’s Crossing (written by the Big Lebowski writers)
Probably not.
Yeah, meeting movie stars, I think by and large, I won’t really care because I don’t follow them closely and I won’t recognize most of them. But meeting famous musicians, that’s always fun. I’ve met two of them, Bruce Springsteen and JK of Jamiroquai. They seemed actually very, very nice!
A friend of mine has met Bruce Springstein and one thing most people don’t know about him: He’s a big fan of serious literature (not that I’m in tune with that myself—but my friend is.)
Yeah, I didn’t actually talk to him, so I don’t know about his interest in literature. He was having dinner at this restaurant at the next table over from where I was sitting, and at one point we were both outside, having a cig. We did the obligatory “what’s up” head nod, but I didn’t actually speak to him. I saw him field a few excited middle-aged ladies, when they asked for autograph and a photo together. Which is why I say he seemed nice… he was a perfect gentleman.
That’s so cool. And the image of the Boss giving you the “what’s up” nod- Ossim.
Yeah, I should have talked to him, but I was kinda shy and I didn’t know what do say to him. I didn’t wanna come off as a weirdo, so I figured I’d just keep my mouth shut. Frankly I don’t know his music that well, except for a few famous songs, and I only recognized him because my friend told be that was Bruce Springsteen.
Besides, I was still reeling from the dinner I had just had, which was just phenomenal and put me in a bit of a trance. I was in no condition to talk to celebrities.
Next time I see him, I’ll be more of a crazed fanboy about it. Maybe I’ll steal his pants.
Sorry I missed the after party Princess Bride quote palooza!
Something wuz buggin me all night. OK here goes. You know the scene when they ambush the cop car with the drug dealer. The actor who plays the driver of the cop car. I knew I had seen him somewhere before but couldn’t place him. I strangled my brain trying to think where from. Anyway, he was in ‘24’. I forget which season, either 3 or 4, maybe both. He was a pudgy computer tech guy. He had a crush on the eccentric character named Chloe. Here wait, I’ll IMDB.
whooshes off to IMDB
It’s Louis Lombardi. He played Edgar Stiles on ‘24’, Season 5. Whoa I watched that show for that long. Woof! He is credited as being in ‘The Usual Suspects’ so I ain’t losing. Boy, was that a close one!
It’s been a long hiatus. We had to run out of sci-fi eventually.
Which reminds me of the only celebrity I’ve ever “met”: Chuck Berry. We were eating breakfast at some greasy spoon diner in New Jersey when my uncle noticed that he was sitting a few tables away. I was maybe 10-15, so my sister and I barely knew who he was, but my parents, aunt, and uncle were all atwitter over seeing him. He got annoyed with the muttering and pointing and yelled something about being left alone to eat his breakfast in peace. (I remember my uncle going over to him for his autograph, which then caused the yelling, but my parents don’t recall it that way.) In any case, I’m surprised he wasn’t just thrilled that someone knew who he was.
With the beams coming out of their tummies (some suggestive imagery right there), Care Bears is at least as far “out there” as BSG.
