The One True God

Your last paragraph seriously undermines my thought about Cavil and species “purity”. He had to know what was going on. But, boy, given his hatred of all things human, why did he let it? It sure seems that the last thing he would want is for his type Cylon to become “more” human.

The clankers created both centurions and hybrids, but the FF created the skin jobs. Cavil is obviously the bandleader for the metallics, but that seems out of tremendous resentment of Ellen. Her apple eating and his Cain to Daniels Abel are an obvious setup for montheism. For this cycle to happen the centurions will all have to be destroyed so this dance can start over in another couple thousand yrs. It seems that the skin jobs and humans are going to have to go separate ways for this to happen again.

According to the RDM podcast for ‘No Exit’ Caprica’s pregnancy is not going to end happily - which means that the writers may want to get rid of this anomaly as they did with Nicky leaving Hera as the one real hybrid…

Or to end up on some version of Kobol with the skin jobs as lords and the humans as servants - and no cross breeding.

Yeah, sorry. As usual, I just veered off topic after suddenly having an idea about the problem of cylon reproduction - excuse me, natural reproduction.

The more I think about it, the more I think that maybe the FF really did just make it incredibly difficult for cylons to reproduce naturally. Because if Cavil was so enraged at Ellen’s ‘human’ programming and decided to remove the element of reproduction from the rest of the S7/8 models, why did he stop there? Why wouldn’t he have gotten rid of the pesky OTG aspect? One of the reasons the S7/8 models have been so obsessed with reproduction is because it’s a commandment. And so far we know 1 S7/8 model has been able to produce a child, and another pregnant, so they do have the ability, just very bad odds. Or would the devotion to OTG by the centurions have prevented Cavil from tampering too much??

Eh. I hate saying this, because I do so enjoy trying to solve the puzzle, but I should really stop and just wait a couple more weeks. My theories also have a way of being the opposite of right.

Thanks OT, that’s exactly the info I was looking for.

Well, time will reveal all, right?

I like your revision/refining of these two points.

Yes, geez, enough already! I now just want everybody to have some happiness. Fat chance of that.

Hey, welcome to the Forum, domgblackwell.

I have been amazed at the theories here regarding the OTG. I must admit that the last information dump episode has had my head spinning for days. Too…much…info…too…far…apart…cannot…compute.

I like your theories, Old Timer. I think I will mosey on over to this Wiki and have a look.

I truly wonder how much power Cavil has over the programming of the skin jobs. Obviously, he can wipe memories and program missions into the skin job brain. But can he even change the programming regarding the OTG? There might be reasons for him to leave the OTG programming in – it might allow him to control the others more easily, for example. But I suspect that if he could have removed the devotion to the OTG, and the drive to be “more human” and to procreate, he would have.

When Ellen says that the skin jobs were given free-will, perhaps she means that, in their pure form, they were given the free-will to accept or reject the OTG and the FF’s hope for peace. They were given the ability to rise above their base programming.

It will be interesting to see who/what this OTG is. Whoever/whatever it is, it was impressive enough to convince Ellen. After all, her planet was destroyed by centurions and she travels for thousands of years only to find more centurions in the middle of a pitched battle against the humans. These centurions believe in the OTG and, boom, Ellen’s on board. Not just using the concept to control the skin jobs, but sincerely believing.

Set aside about a week. Once you get into the swing of it, it becomes addictive.

A good topic with which to start, that will lead to all sorts of others is “Religion in the Twelve Colonies”.

After tonight’s episode, forget accessing it for about 24 hours. It will be so overloaded with viewers, that you should be able to see steam coming out of your computer.

Is BSG Wiki spoiler-y? I poked around in it a little, then stopped after I perused the spoiler policy, which said basically, “With BSG, everything is a spoiler.”

Boy - I haven’t come across any spoilers, but ask others to chime in. All I have found are things that I missed/did not know that had occurred in the episodes and questions about what certain events might mean.
