The "I hate Geata" Club.

That is alright.
Glad to see we’ve got some members!

Worst part is … if they actually do execute the mutineers (assuming Adama et. al. get the ship back), they’ll have to put Racetrack in with the lot.

Which means they’re NEVER finding a place to live!! Not without Ms. ā€œI can find anything, even jumping blind.ā€

Racetrack brought this on herself…frak it girl why did you have to go and do this…

Ok so who wants a postion?

SIC SEMPER GAETA!!!

Where’s my Torch and Pitchfork

can i join… ill bring plenty bags -o- oranges for everybody… they dont leave makes

Can I be official Airlock-Button-Masher?

Lol, you literally beat me to it by a few minutes. Can I be your assistant?

Remember one simple truth: Do you think Gaeta is wrong? This might help inform this discussion.

I don’t like seeing what Gaeta is doing, but I can respect that he is acting on his beliefs. I feel the same way about Zarek. He really believes in what he’s doing, and honestly, there’s been good reason to distrust the Adama/Roslyn administration.

What I enjoy about this story line with Gaeta is that he has really evolved as a character. He started as the science geek and look where’s he’s gone to. That’s great story telling. He’s frightening now and that’s not something I’d ever thought I’d feel about him.

Yes I do think Gaeta is wrong. Are his reasons sound? Perhaps. Are his actions right? No - absolutely not. Furthermore, I don’t like or respect him as a person. I think if I did like or respect him as a person this whole thing might feel differently to me. But I just don’t. I can’t see any justification for taking people hostage (like little girls for example, people who are minding their own business not hurting anyone), killing people who are just trying to do their jobs. I think it’s incredibly ironic that the event that has the biggest possibility of destroying the fleet and killing off humanity isn’t even being carried out by the supposed ā€œenemyā€ the cylons. It’s other humans that are causing chaos and fear this time.

Absolutely. Even if you were to agree Adama and Roslin had to go, there were less bloody ways to do it. Killing unarmed opponents does not strike me as righteousness. I can see where Gaeta is coming from, but anything that happens to Gaeta, he’s got it coming to him, in my opinion.

I will take it upon myself to personally punish both selix and racetrack. It will be a long hard punishment with lots of screaming and some forms of torture.

besides all the tratoris stuff, it was great to see tons of old faces in this ep. - even if they were tratorus

I just rewatched the ep., and guess who else is there? Remember Captain Kelly, the LSO who was trying to kill Baltar’s lawyers? He was the guy leading the squad down to take out Adama and Tigh. The mutineers must’ve released Kelly from prison or something like that, then, right?

I’m not prepared to ask for a membership card here yet. I’m fascinated (BTW, good summation of how far Gaeta’s character has come, DawnAZ), I’m angry, I’m hurt–but I can’t quite get to hate. It’s the difference between wanting to reach through the TV screen, take a character by the shoulders, and shake some sense into them while yelling in their faces–which I’ve wanted to do with pretty much everybody on this show at some point or another–and wanting to reach through the screen and throttle someone–which I’ve only wanted to do to the Sunshine Boys and Thorne, I think because they’re not only utterly despicable and horrible but because they’re also so stupid that no amount of yelling would even dent their awfulness. With the rest of the mutineers, I feel my fingers creeping up from their shoulders closer and closer to their throats, but I just can’t get there.

I thought i saw Kelly, but i wasn’t sure. I can’t wait until next week’s heroic smackdown!!

I was probably most vocal this past week in my support of Gaeta. I truly never thot the kid had it in him to do something this violent (and, frankly, I bet neither did he). At the end of the ep, I think he realized that if he was going to go through with this thing, he had to be willing to commit and go all the way–a principle I imagine he learned from Adama, and was reinforced by Adama’s little speech before being dragged away. So he ordered the destruction of the Raptor.

While I hope the Sunshine Boys get it soon and first, I don’t think Gaeta’s long for this Erf either. And for letting his people get out of hand and shoot innocents, and for ordering the President’s Raptor destroyed, he’ll deserve it. But so does half the rest of our beloved characters. That was the whole point of the trial last season–everyone has been guilty of terrible things over the past few years, but we’ve forgiven it in order to survive–and because we like certain characters better than others. We don’t like Baltar, and some don’t like Gaeta, so we sentence him to death.

If Roslin had made her speech last week–If Adama had made it clear last week that sending Marines to the tylium ship was an emergency situation not to be repeated in the rest of the fleet–If Tigh had acknowledged last week that having himself ā€œtake pointā€ on these issues was a bad idea–then this rebellion wouldn’t have happened. Or it at least would have been mitigated. But because Adamlin assumed that everyone would go along with their plan no questions asked, we have a lot of scared and pissed off people.

Now things are royally frakked up because Adamlin assumed they were unquestioningly in charge, and everyone else assumed they were still living in a democracy. But I’m rooting for Adamlin to take back the ship, because they’re the only ones who I believe can save humanity. Hopefully, they will learn something from this and either make a better play at real democracy, or just declare absolute authority until the human race is safe and populated at more than a few thousand. And hopefully, everyone else will realize that Adamlin are usually right, and things go smoother when they’re in charge.

Right now, it’s just a mess. A complete frakking mess.

Yes I do.
Yes I do think Gaeta is wrong. I can’t see any justification for taking people hostage or killing people who are just trying to do their jobs.

There were far better and less bloody was of doing this then what they have done.

It’s not even, As was shown in the ep being done with the health of the fleet in mind. It’s basicly Zarek making a power play by using members of the crew how have a chip on there shoulder.

Plus NOTHING justifys them going around the ship killing those who were not apart of there group. And don’t tell me they weren’t listen to the background during the hallways scenes…

It’s pointless murder…

Zarek is worse then Roslin…

He’s just like Cane…

I would prefer him taking people hostage over the murders. Just sayin’.

And yeah, sign me up! Frak that gimp.

Cane wasn’t particularly ā€œbadā€. pragmatic yes, bad no. If you really think about the information and resources she had available to her she never did anything ā€œevilā€ considering the situation. i seriously defy anyone to make a salient case that she was. On the podcast I have yet to hear one.

I agree with you that taking lives and hostages are wrong and the lengths that the mutineers took in order to take over the ship. But hear this point out.

Think about it:

  1. Most if not all of the mutineers already had a hatred for Cylons that are beyond whatever we could ever imagine. Think of your whole family, friends, society as you know it get wiped out.

  2. They go through hell, risk life and limb trying to run away from the Cylons, who they hate already. They also lose a lot of good people before New Caprica, during New Caprica, and after.

  3. They finally get to earth and there nothing but a heaping mess of nothing.

I am not trying to defend what Gaeta does. In fact the whole time I am watching the episode I get so pissed off at what he does. but knowing if I were in the same situation, I am not sure how I would handle it.

This is why I love this show because there is no clear cut answer to all that is happening and can’t wait what happens next.
