Where’s the damn cemetary directory!?!?
I was thinking the same thing but didn’t want to say it.
giggle
How’d he know there was an Arch Stanton there?
They’re not too bright.
Greed is an amazing thing. Even split three ways, they’d be hard-pressed to spend that much money in their lifetimes.
Alright Badger, during the prolonged setup. How do you think it’s gonna end?
This scene – especially the music – just screams Tarantino to me.
I think it’s more about double-crossing and lack of trust. They are survivors and constantly fighting for their lives. They don’t know how to share or make an honest agreement.
Father Pablo’s mission ends up with a sizeable donation.
Otherwise, that whole scene with him was basically pointless.
Just a guess.
Right into the grave. Then the hat and gun.
He’s tidy that Blondie.
That’s not six feet under.
I guess they’re expression was ‘in the ground’.
When I saw Father Pablo, I read “Father Pablo shows up with the monk ninjas and takes the money.” Boy, am I sleepy!
The whole “six feet under” thing is only necessary if there’s a chance of frost or flooding. Not really problem in the desert.
I don’t think so. The whole story follows Tuco. It hashes out his character. Tells you where he comes from and what he had to do to survive.
Very nice. Well played.
I’m just thinking of the logistics here, but what do you do with that gold? Aren’t authorities gonna ask where you got it? I’m just trying to think what I would do. I mean, that’s a lotta money.
And creative! That’s something I’d like to see.
True enough. It just came off as more of an aside and might have been setup for a later payoff in the film. Obviously not.
OTOH, perhaps it was. It’s possible it showed Blondie that Tuco wasn’t completely a bad guy. Not completely.
You should check out the others in the ‘Man with no name’ series.
Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars more.
It’s not like just rolling into town with gold coins would be now. That would be regular money back then. As long as you weren’t too showy about having a lot of it, I doubt that anyone would notice. And “authorities” would be the last thing that they’d have to worry about, I reckon.
I assume they’re upcoming fraks?
You always get me thinking. Now I’m picturing an older, wiser Tuco. After splurging some of his money on drink and women, his brother finds him and gives him a cause to fight. With his cash he finds true happiness in helping others.
