The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian 12/3 @ 11 PM ET

“For Aslan!”

Sure. Fight in his name, despite the fact that he withheld his aid until you were literally on the verge of annihilation.

And he slew the wicked with a mighty flood.

ETA: Oh noes! Poseidon works for Aslan!

They allowed it to go on. Remember Hitler and the Nazis? I think that’s the correlation here.

I’m giggling at the little mouse funeral…

I have no heart.

Fighting an unjust war is somewhat different than marching the weak and infirm into ovens. This army had no reason to suspect that what they were doing was wrong. After all, they had ample cause to believe that Miraz was killed by Narnian treachery.

So their ignorance makes them innocent? The teacher knew. At some point the corruption began and no one challenged it. The Telmarines did a similar thing to the Beasts that the Nazis did.

“Because you have spoken first, your future in that world will be good.”

That hardly seems fair.

I guess Omra fell asleep.

My point is that these soldiers were the product of centuries of Telmarine culture. They’d have no reason to believe in the fanciful tales of Narnia. Many of the Beasts couldn’t speak, and the more fantastic creatures hid from view. Just imagine if New York City was suddenly attacked by a Bigfoot army. Which side would you support?

And once again, Aslan could have prevented all of this, but he chose to allow centuries of suffering and death instead.

Yeah, I stand by my original assessment. This wouldn’t have been a particularly engaging movie without the frak party. Certainly not as good as the first, IMO.

Bigfoot army. giggle

So, Aslan has to stick around otherwise everyone forgets? Nobody learns to treat folks justly and peacefully?

Agreed. It could have been trimmed down and give us a little more background on the Telmarine instead of just labeled the “bad guys”.

Perhaps. In any case, he was both aware of condition of Narnia and clearly had the power to do something about it, and yet, he figured it was more important to play hide and seek with children than to protect the world that he claimed to love?

Why does everyone respect him so much, other than the power that he possesses? Obviously he has no respect for them in return.

Yeah, the White Witch was a clear force of capital-E Evil. The Telmarine were, at worst, dicks.

I think you’re just mad cuz you want to cuddle with Aslan’s mane. :stuck_out_tongue:

My aunt died from cancer and my cousin was pissed. In the grip of her grief she asked, “Where is God?” The folks around her tried to comfort her saying all the typical responses. I remember thinking, “This is no time for cliche.” I didn’t say anything to her. I didn’t know what to say.

Why should we have faith? Whether we do or not, people suffer and die. Faith just becomes a ‘Get out of Hell free’ card. That does nothing for the here-and-now, just eternity.

While in High School (I went to a pre-seminary, BTW), we were having a conversation about John 3:16. Someone had asked what it meant after seeing it on TV during a baseball game. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” One of my friends who was going through a rough time said, “God so loved the world, he left us here to suffer. Well, that’s how it feels.” It was a very somber moment.

I need to go sleepy-time, Badger. Have a good night.

Me too. Expect further response tomorrow.

Good night.
