I’m of the mind that SG treats timelines and realities separate. But, it’s moot. d:
Just watched the episode and gotta say I loved it, though I was a bit confused.
It appears that Destiny itself traveled back in time as (or before) the wormhole was being established, and Telford, when he went through the wormhole, came out at Stargate Command in the new timeline. Then, the gate flickered, possibly jumping to another gate at the receiving end, and then everybody else went through. Your guess is as good as mine where they ended up. I hope it’s somewhere nice, and not the old Tolan world or that black hole from A Matter of Time. It’s possible that it jumped in time, and they’ll arrive later at Earth, possibly all dying against the iris (ouch!)
That said, why didn’t Telford die against the iris? Did they plan ahead of time to leave it open? Seems kinda dangerous.
Anyway, I figured the smoke coming down over the chair was just part of the general ship exploding, but maybe something else happened. Maybe they left it ambiguous to give them something to build on in any potential future seasons (I wish I may I wish I might). Same with the original Destiny sinking into the star. I figured it was done that way for dramatic effect (a ship sinking beneath the waves).
One set of quotes to reply to:
I still don’t get the reference. Who is Ginny? The only Ginny I know of is from a completely different franchise
When did Rush kill an unarmed man for revenge? I am not doubting it happened, and I vaguely remember him being very mad at someone (several people in fact) and wanting them dead, but I don’t recall him ever actually killing someone. Except Telford and I’m pretty sure that was an accident.
Yeah, I was wondering about the Iris/Gateshield (if Atlantis is still there) myself. Maybe they had someone body swap when they arrived in the system to warn them. That is, of course, assuming that the time travel happened after he went through the gate.
Ginn was Eli’s girlfriend who was body-swapped with the paraplegic lady that Rush had a thing for (who I don’t remember the name of). Simeon (another LA guy) killed her, not realizing he was killing both of them. Rush chased him through the gate to a planet, injured and disarmed him with a stampede of alien dinosaurs, then shot him.
Do NOT like Rush
…at all
Future self either
A small throw away line told us someone warned them ahead of time. Could have been Eli himself while he was going over the math with them.
Simeon did know he was killing both. If he didn’t know, why would he kill Ginny’s body with her consciousness elsewhere if he thought her consciousness would survive. He definitely knew Ginny wasn’t in her body at the time.
I’m not touching the time travel stuff. That path leads to madness. d:
Ah HAH. I do remember that. Best Rush moment of the series IMO. Glad Eli didn’t end up doing it
