That is still pretty flimsy.
They have Asgard transporters now. Why do they still need rings too?

Notice that Kinsey was going for the device that let them access the Al’kesh transporters remotely. He could have gotten away (but we don’t see him again, so probably not).
Writers probably wanted to keep the option in reserve.
That ending was a bit abrupt.
Next week: a teaser of an enemy we won’t actually meet for a couple more seasons and Major Sheppard playing Captain Kirk (again).
Did you notice the names of the three Trust guys in the closing credits? Mr. Parker, Mr. Kent, and Mr. Wayne.
