You know, if something we’ll see next weekend didn’t happen, this would have added a whole new layer to their relationship.
Question: what is the proper material to use for a containment/storage vessel for (hopefully) deactivated replicators? A Magneto-style plastic cube?
If that something hadn’t happened, i think this probably would have been written differently.
The vacuum of space, one block per light year. 
If more stuff that emphasized Daniel had happened the past couple seasons, that something might not have needed to happen. And I’m not sure how much that actually plays into this next episode. It would have been interesting to see some time with Daniel barely willing to speak to Jack.
And these guys weren’t actually in that episode. They added them to this bit.
