I remember that it was useful for me personally the first time around. I didn’t get Showtime until toward the end of the first season, and it was a good setup for the season finale.
I think Daniel lost the Pandora’s Box metaphor joust with Kinsley.
“They really are at the Gate. THAT ONE!” Great line.
And yeah, great ID4 reference.
The Nox flashback confused me when I first saw this episode. I hadn’t seen it before seeing this episode beforehand.
They also skipped the part where Pandora herself was a trap to punish men for the audacity of stealing fire from from the gods. That definitely would have made Kinsey’s point.
The fight with the Death Glider was a lot better in CotG Final Cut.
“I don’t want to appear callous…”
…but I will anyway.
Surprised they hadn’t given Kinsey a head’s up about the team returning. And not a good match on music with the dramatic Villain Music with him just standing there.
“You can not pass!”
Teal’C the Grey!
And here’s the only clip from the movie in any of the TV shows.
One person to set and 2 to override? That seems backwards.
The ship landed in CotG also I believe.
You know, the virus thing is a really good point, especially with how widespread humans are. The odds of mutated diseases we couldn’t deal with is pretty high.
I have to agree under normal conditions. But they may have set it up so that if the base is brached it would be easy to start and hard to stop the explosion.
Lt. Col DB ticked off Hammond. Not a bright idea.
I love how Daniel saved Jack from insulting the senator.
Surprised Kinsey didn’t bring up the Tollan in response to the tech comment.
At least it was the penultimate episode and not the final episode of the season.
(Just wait until season 2…)
I have never seen the theatrical release, but IIRC the ship landing was added in the Director’s cut, or some other cut that became the “official” Stargate movie.
I wish I could watch these with you guys, but not only am I never home on Saturday night, I’m currently going through 2 rewatches (one with commentary, one without, about 3 seasons apart) and listening to 2 podcasts, each at their own spot in the series. Doing any more than reading and replying to these posts would probably cause my brain to explode into an unstable wormhole.
