Mara Jade said Vader lost his hand in that scene. Retconned I guess. d:
E, “Princess Leia looks very pretty now.”
Carrie is so adorable here.
How? Stuck it out the window?
Agreed whole heartedly.
LOL…or ripped it off with the steering yoke?!
I dunno. Internal explosions? Tie Bombers don’t have shields after all.
E, “Why didn’t Chewie get a medal?”
R, “Because he’s just a walking carpet to her.”
Hahahahaha…good one R!
Lol!
Nice one.
Vader’s fighter looks like a TIE bomber but it’s actually called a TIE Advanced, specially made for the Dark Lord.
Time for Troops?
Still lacked shields.
Not sure about that. In the game TIE fighter it had shields. Do you know where Mara Jade said that?
Yes. Yes it is.
I forget. I might be able to google in within 10 minutes,
See ya all for tomorrow night’s episode…off to catch the Blackhawks game in progress on TV…somewhere.
Vader has lost his right hand, although the shoulder is intact. The final point of amputation must be somewhere between the top of the shoulder and the cut he received on Geonosis (approximately halfway to the elbow). The skeleton observations still allow for separate remnants of his original tissue in the lower left arm and upper right arm, with most of the remainder consisting of cybernetic mechanisms.
Five years after his father’s death, Luke Skywalker met Mara Jade, a woman who had been a disciple and special agent of Emperor Palpatine [HTTE]. While the couple attempted to rescue smuggling chief Talon Karrde from Grand Admiral Thrawn, Skywalker mentioned the destruction of the first Death Star. Dark Force Rising, p.266:
“I don’t imagine that the Emperor was pleased,” Luke murmured.
“No, he wasn’t,” Mara said, her voice dark with memories of her own. “Vader nearly died for that blunder.” Deliberately, she looked over at Luke’s hands. “That was when he lost his right hand, in fact.”

Jade’s claim is not straightforward. Vader had already lost his organic right hand during the Battle of Geonosis [AOTC]. Did he lose a cybernetic hand as punishment after the Battle of Yavin? Perhaps Jade was a misinformed non-witness to the punishment?
Looks like I mis-remembered the quote. Didn’t realize she was talking about after the fact.
Ah. Dark Force Rising. I’ve got to read those again. It’s been…almost…20 years!!
