Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope 5/24 @ 7PM ET

Note to everyone: Don’t play hide-and-seek with Obi-wan.

talosdaughter_2, “What is the purpose of mouse droids? Are they little spies for Darth Vader?”

me ponder…

I love how Luke and Han start exiting from the elevator the wrong way before they realize the door is behind them. Simple comedy works. Forced (no pun intended) doesn’t.

“We’re all fine here now. How are you?”

collective laughter

As desperate as their situation is, this is the funniest part of the film.

“Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?”

So true to life. Grin and bear it.

talosdaughter_2, “Why is there a door there?”

Huh? Never wondered that before.

“Try and brace it with something.”

Yeah. That’ll work. Desperate times sometimes call for foolish suggestions.

“Threepio. Come in, Threepio.”

Even this early, Luke has faith in his friends.

I’ve seen this scene so many times and it still tense. Love it.

I guess the Empire couldn’t afford SCOM to monitor their systems either.

talosdaughter_2, “Red plus Blue is Purple. So Obi-Wan plus Darth Vader equals Mace Windu.”

talosdaughter_2, “Why does Vader step on him?”

Me, “Why do you think?”

talosdaughter_2, “To make sure he’s dead. To bask in his victory. To make sure Ben didn’t turn into a mouse.”

ouch

“Hear me, baby. Hold together.”

That was my prayer every time I drove my first car.

“I’m taking a great risk. This had better work.”

I like the idea that Tarkin and Vader are playing a bigger game.

Did they get pimplely actors for the Rebel pilots on purpose? To make them all look young.

Reel 6 begins and we set out to face the final challenge.

The pressure is getting to Luke. He’s hearing voices.

Can’t take my eyes off the screen. Lovely pacing of action and adventure. As the action progresses, Lucas continues to bring the camera to focuses on the actors faces. It keeps you interested.

“Luke, you switched off your targeting computer. What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

Well, that’s it. Kiss our butts goodbye.

That’s all folks!

The Force will be with you. Always.
