I remember being soooooo excited to see this.
Then I remember watching the VHS over and over trying to figure out what bothered me about it. It was a total fanboi time.
It is. It is also a visually beautiful film. I want to live in that world.

I know! When I watched the 6 films with one of my bffs who had never seen any of them, last year, we were both plotting where we’d build houses!

Not really. One time I watched it without the sound and played the soundtrack. It’s a great silent film. Charlie Chaplin would be proud.

I have a feeling that gif will get a lot of use tonight. 
Yeah this isn’t a fabulous film but it isn’t nearly as terrible as it’s often made out to be. Especially when you watch it with a) children b) people who didn’t grow up with the original trilogy.
I like that the lightsabers get some use within the first 5 minutes of the film.
(read all the homoeroticism into that that you’d like, if you will)

I agree. My daughters wanted to watch the Prequels first last year much to the dismay of some others. I have since convinced them otherwise.
Obviously, later Imperial engineers were unfamiliar with earlier Trade Federation specs

I sometimes like to watch the prequels first so I can end with ROTJ and the happy dance times.

Amusing story… yesterday S was in the room while I was watching Jedi, and when the Emperor was speaking, he turned to me and felt the need to verify, “is that Palpatine?”

I think of the prequels like religion and pornography: no one should be exposed to them until they’re old enough to use critical thinking to understand right and wrong.
